Yeah I was just coming on here to post that mock. Wishful thinking I know....but that would be such a great 2 rounds.

Of course, I would much rather get Surtain with the second pick. Then I would probably trade down in the first with Philly if possible (they have #31 and #35, along with 11 OTHER picks...rediculous). With the depth at CB and DE, you could still get 2 really good players at those picks. I really like Carlos Rogers though...what to do....

Call me crazy...but I guess I really like DE David Pollack from Georgia.

Not only does that guy get heat on the qb.....its his workout numbers i like. OK OK ...not great 40 time (4.75) and short arms and only 265.

BUT read Kirwin's articles on NFL.com.

http://www.nfl.com/]NFL.com[/url]

This guy has the agility of a corner in the 3 cone drill and hits with explosion. He runs like lots of linebackers with better agility.

Those measures plus his production...115 QB pressures!!!!!!

THis guy is a player.

It would be a perfect draft.

However, it pains me to say it, but we better not be able to pick Roth. Surtain should be a Chief.

It's probably my UK bias but I'll take Vincent "Sweet Pea" Burns as one our late picks. I've watched this guy take qb's heads off in the SEC for years now.

that would be an outstand start to the draft imo.

combine that with signing a healthy Ty Law and carl peterson can take an extra vacation.

1st round

15. Kansas City Chiefs: Carlos Rogers, CB, Auburn

Do you think they will go defense here? Last offseason the team re-signed all of their underachieving defenders, brought in a new defensive coordinator and thought things would get better but instead they actually got worse. Following the 2004 season the teams top priority was adding an impact cornerback but after missing out on all of their top targets in free agency (Samari Rolle, Fred Smoot, etc.) they may be stuck having to address the position early on in the Draft. Rogers has everything you look for in a top corner physically and he came through with a tremendous senior campaign as well as an eye-opening performance at the Combine that has solidified him as a legitimate mid-first round pick. One way or another the Chiefs will be looking to go defense here and they can really justify grabbing someone at any position after the way that unit played last season. Whether it be a defensive lineman, linebacker or defensive back the Chiefs probably just need to take the best player available, which makes names like Dan Cody, Travis Johnson and Thomas Davis possibilities as well, but if there is a cornerback close in value that is the position they would prefer to address. If the Chiefs go in any direction other than defense in the first few rounds fans just may riot because that side of the ball has been holding this team back for three years now and things have to change if they want to take that next step and seriously contend for the Super Bowl.

2nd round
46. Kansas City Chiefs: Matt Roth, DE, Iowa

The best defensive player left on the board and we all know how much this team needs help on that side.

DE, he missed a few games last year with an injury(knee I think?). His junior season was his best.

When the hell is the draft? I will be happy when I never hear the word mock again.

Its not that I don't like them...its just something about the word.

Can we change the word "mock" to "hypothesis" and "draft" to "crap shoot"

Carl will pay hard-ball. The fins are seeking a 2nd rounder. That's a STARTING POINT in negotiations. If Carl pulls this off, if we give up the 2nd rounder, I bet we get a pick in exchange, but I expect we will give a 4th or 5th THIS year and a 3rd rounder next year for Surtain, when all is said and done. There aren't many suitors and we know they need to free up so cap space. Getting something in return is better than nothing and Carl knows this about the fins situation.
We'll see how it shakes out, but I'm damn glad the talks are heating up again. I will give Carl a Hell of a lot of praise if he pulls this off. I think we all know how huge getting Surtain would be to improving our defense. Surtain, Bell, and Knight is a promising start at improving our defense and could be beneficial to lighting a fire under those that will remain Chiefs. Here's to some good mojo for Surtain becoming a Chief.
