Eh... having a JC sure has benefits, but he's not exactly a Calvin J or Green kind of deep passing threat like they are. If Bowe would play as well as he is capable... if KC can add an upgrade to Avery... if Kelce could have been what they drafted him for right out of the gate...
Lots of ifs... but most would realize and admit that QBs like Stafford, Brees, and Dalton have a much more potent arsenal of pass weapons than that of Smith. This is not to say that Smith is free from all blame... or that he is wonderful.. but we all can concede that most QBs actually need a good supporting cast.. just like Smith needs one.

Jeff Garcia, quality QB.
But what would his numbers of been without the 95 yards and 1 TD of offense per game that went through T.O. 2000-2002 A WR can't make a QB. But it can DEFINITELY make things easier for a QB. Every week a defense must decide what to do with those rare HOF level talents. Do they shift coverages to him and the other passing options are ripe for the picking. Or do they assume their guys on defense are up to the challenge and can live with giving up 100 and a TD to 1 guy because others are held in check. |

Saying that Green helps Dalton isn't saying Dalton sucks. It's just saying that having Green helps. Montana and Rice have been mentioned and you know what yes Rice did help Montana. That doesn't mean Montana sucked it just means he had a good weapon. This saying that Dalton isn't good because of Green is a straw man argument NO ONE has said that. Just that having Green helps |

The other QBs on that team (Brees/Rivers) also looked pretty bad for the most part and had multiple turn overs. In fact the only QB that did well was Foles.. Alex gets kudos for the clutch game winning drive+TD.
