no, no other messages, IIRC. Only the F12 function, which seems to start, but then my batt. died and had to go to work. So, I'll try that again tonight, it is F12, correct?

Possibly. It seems all new laptops come with a restore partition so you can easily restore back to factory default xp. Of course you will lose everything so make sure that is want you want to do.

How much memory do you have?
Before you reinstall take out one of the memory sticks and boot and see what happens. If that doesn't work put one of the memory sticks back in and take out the other one rinse and repeat. You could have a faulty memory stick |
