****Official **** You Mike Mayock Thread**** (OP UPDATED)

http://m.nfl.com/news/0ap1000000140130/

The Kansas City Chiefs need a quarterback, but there aren't any this season that look like a top-ten talent, much less a No. 1 overall pick.

The way Mike Mayock sees it, the Chiefs should be looking to the offensive line for their first overall pick. And there are only four players worth the No. 1 overall pick in this draft for Kansas City: Alabama guard Chance Warmack, UNC guard Jonathan Cooper, Texas A&M tackle Luke Joekel, or Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher.

Mayock said on a conference call Monday that some people will say he's crazy to potentially take a guard at No. 1 overall, but Mayock says Warmack is the best player in this draft. So he doesn't see it as crazy at all.

In the end, Mayock believes the pick could come down to Joekel or Warmack. This is a draft where the top-shelf players don't stand apart too much, and there may not be a huge difference between picks 5 and 25. That makes it a tricky spot for the Chiefs.

Don't be surprised if Kansas City builds from the inside out, and finds their quarterback of the future later.

He gives the Chiefs 4 options at #1 and they're all offensive lineman? Go **** yourself bro

@Jacobs71: Here is what Mayock said on #Chiefs pick in full "Well, part of it depends on what they're going to do with free agency and Branden Albert."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I think the answer to that, obviously, is going to give you the answer. Sitting where they are, let's face it, they need a QB."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"We don't know that there are a lot of people who think Geno Smith is in that ballpark."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I don't, but there are a lot of people that think he should be considered."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"When you look at what they're going to do, what are they going to do with Dwayne Bowe?"

@Jacobs71: Mayock:" Whoever the quarterback is, they need a wide receiver. And I think John Dorsey has to be thinking what is the big picture here?"

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I've got one, and I've got 34. What is the best combination of getting the most value out of that?"

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"And I think that offensive lineman at 1 is the most solid guy they can go with."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I don't care whether it's Warmack or Joeckel. People will tell me I'm crazy that a guard can't go No. 1."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I think he's the best player in the draft, so I would argue that."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:" But either way, I think they've got to get an offensive lineman and come back at 33 and prepare to go with a QB or WR."

@Jacobs71: When I asked Mayock about who fits Reid's system at QB: " I think Matt Barkley makes a lot of sense."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:" He's a guy as a junior at USC looked so much different than he did this year."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"With Landry Jones and Tyler Wilson, I think all three of those guys you have to go back and watch junior tape. "

@Jacobs71: Mayock:" So I think Barkley fits what he does. I think Ryan Nassib fits what he does."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"I think Landry Jones and Tyler Wilson both can fit what he does."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"So of those, that group of guys of the top seven, eight quarterbacks, I think those are the guys that did it most efficiently."

I might still be a casual observer, but as far as being the fan I am now? Yeah, I don't think I could do that anymore. I wouldn't go out of my way for anything Chiefs anymore. Making sure I can watch a game, etc.

I love Jamaal Charles, Dwayne Bowe and Tamba Hali too much to stop yelling my guts out.

And you do too.

I'd probably give them 4 games if they traded a third or less for Foles because I was a fan/supporter of is college game...if we go the Landry Jones route, I'm out.

I question someone's fandom if they can turn it off like a light.

I don't really think I do. After all the heartbreak of the 90's and early 2000's, then taking a guard at #1? I could get over them really quick.

Thats fine.

To be honest, I question someones mentality who can root for a team that sucks as bad as we do/have. The continual heartbreak etc.

Props to any of you guys who are MU, Royals and Chiefs fans.

I question someone's intelligence if they pay money and spend hours on a consistently inferior product with no hope of improvement.

Everyone's loyalties end as some point.

Mine would end the moment they announce we spent he top overall pick on a guard.

I would've taken a step back if ***** had been kept. But even if I really hate what Dorsey does this year with the team, I'll give it a chance.

Like I said, I'll be a casual observer. Maybe a game here or a game there.

But going out of my way to watch a game? Nah. Spending money on any of that? Nah.

If they don't draft a quarterback within the top 20 picks, I'm taking steps back and boxing up my chiefs gear until they do.

I don't care how long that would take.

Too many good things in life to waste time on stuff like this.

I don't think there is anyway we do, but if we were to take a OG at 1, yeah, I'd say that would be alot of people's stepping off point.

Seriously? 2-14 and they take a guard with the #1 overall pick? I question anyone who wants to be a fan of that.

Sadly....80% of this fanbase would be ecstatic. But then again...80% of this fanbase is ****ing reeruned.

We aren't taking a G at 1 and we aren't going to start Landry Jones in week 1.

Goddamn there are some cliff jumpers standing on the ledge right now.

I'm not standing on the ledge. Not at all. Cause I won't jump.

I'll calmly open the door and walk away.

You and I have had our battles on here, but you're relatively new to CP. Hell, I've only been here since 09. But being a fan my whole life, which isn't that long, (some here have been fans for longer than I've been alive) and seeing the Chiefs do basically the same shit over and over, then when they are in a position to do what we've debated and grinded on and on about on CP, only for them to not do it, would be pretty devastating.

It's childish and being a shitty fan, etc. I know, but I just don't think I'd have it in me and I give a shitton of mad props to guys who've gone thru it as long as some here have.
