KC Offense: A little RPO?

First, a great read on the run-pass offense: http://blog.xowizard.com/run-pass-op...he-rpo-basics/

Something I have been noticing lately, and I'm not entirely sure if its a 'true' RPO, is they have been running a lot of power out of trips closed, with what looks like a bubble read. I pointed this out in the last A22 offense post, and Sorter alluded to it may being a built in fake. Quite possibly is, but its interesting none the less as KC is racking up a lot of ground yardage with it.

Alley defender stay out wide and freezes, Alex gives to Ware for a nice gain.

again in trips closed, alley defender stays wide. he actually attacks the bubble and is cut block. Alex gives to Ware again for a nice gain.

Here is the alley defender down in the box, with a 1 high look. Still only technically 6 in the box, but the alignment puts them in position to stop Zone read (similar result as defending with scrape/exchange?). KC aligning in the Oregon "double stack". Zone read freezes the alley player and Alex throws the bubble to DT right away.

I am by no means an expert at this stuff. Trying to spark some more X's and O's conversations. These are probably not even true RPO, but want to hear what you guys think.

I like the rpo stuff, and I'm interested to see them add write kles to it as the year progresses. Like a block and go off the bubble screen etc.

1st off looks like terrible LB play and good execution by kc's OL on the 1st 2. The zone read/spread option plants a seed of doubt in the defenders mind and once the hole is open it is on the LBs to read it see it and get there which they didn't.

On the last one Alex saw only 1 WR was covered so he threw the bubble screen to the open WR. That was more of a coverage breakdown created by running out of those types of formations. Sure looked like the guy who had 13 was a LB and that is a winner even if he has him at the LOS.

I didn't get to see this game but those clips look more like bad front 7 play and nice execution by kc than anything.

That last one was an easy read, but they probably would've successfully gained yards if they had passed on the first two reads as well.

I've always loved true run/pass options.

I agree, they had numbers advantage in both of the runs and could have thrown the bubble. The OL has been playing extremely well in the run game though.

I like the idea of getting the ball to Hill on that first play. The run was excellent, but I like Hill with 2-2 blocking, even if he ends up having to make a guy miss.
