Today was a pretty crappy day.

I got awakened by a phone call at 6:30 this morning from my best friends ex wife from his phone. I immediately thought "hmm, this is odd" when she started talking because my buddy Rich is already living with another woman and they've been together 5 years. Anywho, she proceeds to tell me that Rich's girlfriend (who was a heavy drinker and not a very good one) got shit faced and was arguing with Rich. He told her that he had to go to bed because he had to work and laid down. She went into their room stood right over him and reached up and grabbed his 9 mm. In an attempt (I presume because she removed the clip) to get his attention, she pulled the trigger. Unbeknownst to her that there was 1 in the chamber. Brain splattered all over him, the bed and the wall. He jumps up and tries to hold both the exit and entry wound closed and yells at his son to call 911. She dies in his arms but they revive her and transport her to the hospital where she shows no brain activity. 2 hours later they pull her off life support and fly her organs and tissue to wherever it is needed. My buddy is in shock, going off 30 minutes of sleep and no food. We finally left the hospital at 3 and he wanted to go back and look for a note or anything because he can't seem to figure it out. Room was horrible, blood splatter all over the wall and just smelled like death but he got through it in a short dose.

If you could think of him in your prayers I sure would appreciate it.

I actually made a mistake as I thought I was responding to another thread, (The NBA one) and that was supposed to be my response to the Rockets, without Howard, beating the Thunder last night. When I realized my error I changed it. So that's the deal... I probably still deserve the award though for other things.

I'm curious now. How did he do that when not meaning to? Or if you don't want to talk about it I understand.

He thought he could still do the things he did when he was young. Eventually the heart taps out.

Here we are. It's been less than a week and my bro is in shambles. I can see why they used to call ptsd shell shock because it looks reminicent of someone who is getting shelled wandering around aimlessly. I am trying to be a good friend but it's taking its toll.

Just be there.

It's been less than a week since he suffered through that and you're already talking about how it's impacted you.

****ing think about that.

It's not a thing you can fix, you just have to fight through it...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Yes it's been less than a week. Every night I have traveled an hour and stayed 5. Sometimes after work, sometimes before, sometimes after class and before work. Sometimes I talk in the phone about it for hours, sometimes I talk to his mother about him for hours.

I'm averaging 4 hours a sleep a night and am constantly on call. Did I mention that I am the only parent my son knows?

So, yes, i said that blowing off some steam. Sorry if you felt it was selfish.
