My parents adopted a completely arbitrary love of Def Lepard when I was 22. After I left for grad school they started traveling to Def Lepard concerts like they were ****ing Dead Heads.

They never once mentioned them or listened to them when I was a kid. Then, all of a sudden, my mom is taking video of them on her phone at the Iowa State Fair.

It still confounds me.

That amazes me. I guess it could be worse; my parents could be furries.

I learned a long time ago not to question people's love of particular bands, artists, etc. It's something I'll never understand but I've learned to be respectful of others.

As far as your parents, I think it's cool that they've found something cool to do with their travel and free time, let alone the fact that they're still together!

That shit's funny. I have a friend from high school who is now a surgeon. Both of us were into guns and roses and other hair bands. I veered away, but he's still hair banding it up. He goes on like hair band cruises and shit. Every other weekend it seems like he's posting some pic on Faceboom of him backstage with Vince Neal or Sebastian Bach. The best part is he totally looks and dresses like a surgeon, so the pics are hilarious.

I saw them on the Pyromania Tour in 1984. Ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore was the opening act, he had just released Cooridors of Power album. If you haven't heard that album, check out the track "End of the World" sung by Cream vocalist Jack Bruce. In concert Gary did his own vocals on that song, he's an OK singer. Actually since he's now dead, he's not good.

It was a 3 band show, Krokus who was on the "Head Hunter" Tour was the second act. Between Gary Moore, Krokus and Def Leppard it had to be the loudest show I ever attended. My ears felt dead for 3 days. Def Leppard was amazing and also put on a great show. Part of the volume problem was both Def Leppard and Krokus got the audience to yell at various parts of songs, like one side of the audience against the other. This show was in Savannah, Georgia which only holds 8,000.
