to throw the ball away, press the right analog stick.
I've been looking through other forums and guides to figure out how to get the defenders to man up correctly. still haven't found the answer. I did find that man align has nothing to do with it though. Apparently the man align is used for disguising zone coverage.

Sometimes flipping the play will correct that. If that doesn't work, I just grab the player and manually move him closer to the player he's supposed to be defending.

I was more talking about nearly-guaranteed passing plays. Either way, the gap assignments in this game don't mean shit really. It more just pisses me off that he won't do what I command. Same thing with the nickel backs or safeties lining up with receivers.
