Life Parents - Do you have a theme in your children's names? - Page 2

Just curious. I was pondering this for no particular reason. Do you pick each child's name completely independently of each other, or is there some theme or complementary nature that you seek?

If you don't have kids but plan to, you may answer in the future tense.

Themes might include, but are not limited to:

Same first letter - These are my kids, James, Jenny, Jacob, and Jarvis.

Alphabetical theme - These are my kids, Annie, Ben, Charlotte, and Danny.

Biblical theme - These are my kids, Ezekiel, Ruth, Eve, and Nebuchadnezzar.

Family theme - These are my kids (followed by the names of your grandparents).

Catholic/Saints theme - These are my kids, John, Catherine, Christopher, and Joan.

Television/Movie theme - These are my kids, Greg, Jan, Bobby, and Marsha.

Diversity theme - These are my kids, Juanita, Sven, Running Deer, and Panupong.

Gender Neutrality theme - These are my kids, Pat, Chris, Terry, and Sandy.

Location theme - These are my kids, Dakota, Dallas, Virginia, and Paris.

Initials theme - These are my kids AJ, TJ, CJ, and RC.

Rhyming theme - These are my kids, Andy, Randy, Sandy, and Mandy.

Adjective theme - These are my kids, Faith, Grace, Joy, and Hope.

Two-Name Names - These are my kids Peggy Sue, Billy Joe, Norma Jean, and Mary Ann.

There are likely other themes I'm not thinking about.

My brother says there are 3 criteria to the perfect child's name.(that he didn't follow).

The child name must be:
1. Gender Neutral
2. An occupation
3. A town in Texas

You're asking for trouble with those names:
Brittni - She'll spend her life saying "It's Brittni with an I" and they'll still spell it Brittani
Kirsten - "Is that pronounced Kirsten or Kirsten?"
Emersyn - This will be spelled Emerson by 100% of people 95% of the time

Reese and Zane should spend their lives being less annoyed, I guess...

Don't you know that unique spelling of names guarantees that the child will be unique and special? It's how that works.

Most people spell Reese with a "c" already. Emersyn was stillborn so she was spared the heartache. Nobody spells her name except for her family members on the anniversary of her death and we all know how to spell it.

I have two daughters. They both share the same middle name, that of their great, great aunt. They both share my wife's maiden name as their third name. And both have Italian first names.

I assume that both will marry someday and I wanted them to have something in common after they're married because they will no longer share their last name.

And yes, their names are fairly uncommon in the U.S.

My wife and I have agreed time and time again that Corpus Christi will be a lovely name for our first child.

Yes, both my daughters names start with A. We weren't looking for a theme necessarily, we just liked the names we picked. At the time we noticed it, but we decided it was not a big enough deal to change from the name we both really like, and had taken awhile to agree too.

And my oldest son is Brett Lee.

The 2nd son is Alexander Michael. Had to switch it up... but it seemed like a strong name to me. He's just Alex now.

There might be a "Lee" theme as well.

I knew a family in Oklahoma that all had names of states. Fathers name was Utah and mothers name was Virginia. Had a son named Nevada and daughter named Carolina.
