Nightlife isn't a huge deal either way. A nice restaurant or two would be more important.

Stay in Frisco, hang out there and in Breck. That could work.
I'm not a fan of Breck's massive, cavernous hotels. It feels like you're in a hospital or some massive government facility. But the town is nice.

Vail (this time of the year) is going to cost you your first born. I agree with Estes Park (The Stanley). Absolutely beautiful up there, but there isn't much night life to speak of.
You might even consider Fort Collins. Great town (Colorado State) and the night life is really nice. Great restaurants, walking distance to everything (in the downtown area) and the people are friendly as hell. The traffic can get hectic at times, but not really a huge deal. |

Too bad you are going when you can't drive Trail Ridge Road. It is one of the most phenomenal drives you will ever do. Simply breathtaking. Colorado Springs is nice, so too is Estes Park. If you are looking for quiet time away from people check out Grand Lake/Granby region.
If you are really up for an adventure drive through Colorado to Moab and check out Canyonlands or Arches National Park. We love Colorado and can't wait to live there.
