Should we have picked up Michael Vick?

I said a long time ago that this would have been a low risk/high reward scenaio for us especially considering the condition of our O line.

We are pot committed to Matt Cassell, which is funny, because if he were a poker hand, it would have played out like this:

We had a sizable number of chips and the blinds were manageable. We were also in late position.

Someone raises 6* the BB at UTG+1.

Someone else re-raises. from middle position.

We call, holding 10-8 offsuit. We don't raise or fold, we just call.

The flop comes down AKK.

There is a bet and then a raise. We don't fold or raise, we just call. The original better folds.

Next card is a J.

Guy bets out 1/6 of our stack. We call on the inside straight draw. No raise or fold.

River card is an 8.

Original better bets out 1/2 of our remaining stack. Rather than fold, we decide to raise. He calls before we can push our chips in, holding pocket cowboys.

We lament the bad luck with our eights and kings, never realizing that we were completely ****ed from the moment we entered the hand.

Warning signs were everywhere, but we chose to get cute, and we ****ed away our entire stack because we couldn't get off of a bad investment despite multiple opportunities to do so without crippling ourselves in the process.

We max bet at a COLD table.

We get a 2 and a 4 while the dealer (Pats) is showing a face.

We double down on our "6" only to get a 3.

Dealer shakes her head while she flips over the hidden face card.

Everybody at the table looks at us like we are ****ing reeruned, except for Denver. They thought we played a hell of a hand.

A lot of what you guys are saying is true, he was massively overrated and is a RB who can throw playing the QB position and not a real QB. To me though the guy cost almost nothing and could be benficial when our our O line struggles for reasons that should be self-evident. I would feel differently if I thought out O-line would be crushing defenders anytime soon.

Vick could have been had for a song. What were we afraid of, bad press? Disgruntled fans calling in to gripe to the 2 or 3 competing KC sports radio shows?

If we start winning no one will care. If we dont start winning, no one will even remember 3 or 4 years from now. Football is a business, and as a fan I want my team to do whatever they can, within the rules, to get better. Who cares if he might not make the starting team, he'd be a hell of a backup or trick play specialist.

Dogfighting

We go to the New England kennel hoping to buy a vicious pitbull.

All we can afford is a kitten.

The kitten accidentally strangles itself with a seat belt on the drive to the dogfight.

Not sure our running game is going to be the #1 problem this year. Vick does nothing to help the passing game. Honestly, between Cassel, Croyle and Vick... Croyle probably looked the most promising in his respective game.

And a great fill in for those teams we face this year that whose rush we won't be able to deal with and you KNOW that's gonna happen. The way the O line is playing right now the Raiders games this year could get ugly, remember I said that. Imagine using Vick and McCluster on some trick plays, talk about speed. I gotta wonder with the potential uses for Vick on our team for the price of a sack lunch how different the numbers would be had he not been involved in dog fighting? I'm guessing they would be significantly different.
