It sucks but there is nothing we can do.

Has any of these cheaper players won or been in the playoffs, playing?

You are right he is not just a guy, nor is he a guy that can carry a substandard team to victories.
IMO Alex is as low a quality QB as you could possibly win a SB with. Of course he would have to be surrounded by plenty of talent. If we pay him 18 mil a year we will not be able to surround him with very much talent. Leading us to fall short of the goal.
I don't see how we could bring in a worse QB than Smith and expect to ever even be able to win a playoff game without some type of miracle, we all know God hates the Chiefs.

So every dl can use haynesworth in the same way?

No.

If that's what they wanna do, play it out this year, franchise him while you groom the next guy.

Well, how cheap are rookie QBs now? Look at Russell Wilson. Look around the league.

You bet your ass they are using Haynesworth as an example. It's money. It's a lot of players first big paycheck. They are going to do whatever they can to get as much as possible.

Having said that, I don't want to give Alex $18 million.

I don't think Reid shares this view of Smith with you. If he did, I don't think he would have lobbied Dorsey to give up two 2nd's for him.

Alex has to know he is one hit away from being a backup or out of the league. With the OL we have in front of him as of right now he might be running for his life all season. The wrong hit and he gets nothing other than the Curly Bill.

Good point. I guess that means Reid and Dorsey feel like they've got what they need - in house - to get it done... or, they won't pay him "top end money".

We have rookie QBs on the squad now. I take it you don't want to win or want to suffer through a couple of really bad seasons that would get the HC and or GM fired. Don't think that is their plan AT ALL. Next year we might see them go with Murray and tell Smith bye if Murray looks the part.

For the thousandth time, look at Reid's history with QBs. It can't go both ways.

"He's a QB whisperer will get all he can out of smith" then "we will lose a lot with a rookie QB cause he's a rookie"
