Did Alex Smith remind you of Matt Cassel tonight?

7-16

62 yards (45 net)

3 sacks

3 passing first downs (1 on a screen pass)

0 completions over 8 yards.

4 punts

NO TOUCHDOWNS

NO BIG PLAYS

NO INTERMEDIATE PLAYS

I'm pretty sure they have the same father, just different mothers.

Viper, you have to understand. Every one here believes that the 49ers defense was DOMINANT before Jim got there. No one remembers the meltdown of drafting Aldon Smith, and how people didn't want him, they wanted Von Miller, or Prince Amukamura. Or the outrage when Aubryo Franklin was let go, and they put Isaac Soap at dtackle, or how they were out raged when McDonald got that huge deal. And we signed Carlos Rogers who was terrible for Washington, and Donte Whitner who even the Bills didn't want.

That's why people are saying Alex Smith cant do what he did there, because he wont have a defense to carry him.

Its the same shit that 49er fans were saying about Alex, and Jim Harbaugh when Jim decided he wanted Alex Smith.

"JIMZ YOU DUMBAZZZZ, ALEX SMIFFZ GONNA GET YOU FIRED LIKE HE DIDZ SINGLETARYZZZZ."

its the exact same thing here. This Chiefs defense is going to be really good.....Maybe not 49ers good, but very good. The offense is going to take some time. It started slowly in 2011 too. Remember the Seattle game week one? it was the special teams, Ted Ginn who had a punt and kick off return to win that game. It wasn't Alex Smith.

But towards the end of that season, the offense was much better.

it doesn't mean I cant say that Alex Smith didn't play well yesterday. HE DIDNT.

There were still plays where Alex had time and shit the bed.

And it's not like the 49ers were only rushing 4. Alex has to find the hot read.

He's not good at quick decisions.

He had the best passer rating in the league, for ****'s sake. Oh, but he doesn't throw for 5,000 yards, so he can't win a SB with a good team? JFC.

Hey, good to see you leading the fantasy as always.
People wanted to call Smiff's first game good. Listed all the pass plays by yards in air. 2 of 9 went beyond the line of scrimmage.
The Smiff Patented Right Sideline Dash was resurrected, hilarious, 9th year in the league, he can't remember to throw it away the whole two yards it had to go, took the loss instead. There was more of that famous right sideline dash last night.
You are a glutton for punishment.

He didn't accomplish it. You don't think he is capable? Honest question. Brady didn't beat the Giants, but he was capable of doing so.

Schedule's tougher this year. I don't really give a shit about winning the division.

It's really all about Kaep to me. (Surprise,Surprise)

We have no Wr's outside of Bouldin. I'm looking at whether or not Kaep can take that next step and start to (for lack of a better term) create WR's.

Can you make a regular guy a household name?

Now obviously we still have Davis. But if we have another guy to throw to outside? Man, we're tough to beat.

Manningham comes back week 8 or 9 depending on the circumstances, so it's not like the cupboard is bare. But I'd like to see Kaep get someone else involved.

If that's how you see it. I have no turned my back on Alex Smith at all. He has no reason not to try to make big plays in the preseason. you have heard Andy Reid on more than one occasion tell Alex Smith to take risks, make risky throws, to be more aggressive, this is his car, take the keys and drive.

I want the best for Alex Smith.

Being critical of someone when they aren't playing up to their standard is not "harbaughing". Its called brutal truth. Its what is pussyfying merica, because we don't want to hurt peoples feelings. Everyone needs to be coddled and told, "well, you did your best!!!" But that's not his best. His best was that Saints game where he was the number one overall pick, and he had an entire fan base cheering for him.

There was no reason for him to not be more aggressive last night. But, if you think by me being critical of his play last night is turning on him, so be it.

Smiff did not look particularly sharp, no. Also, the tempo was blah.
