Shooting at Arrowhead- Chiefs player commits suicide

No details yet. Just came across on the news.

edit: Sources say the player is Jovan Belcher. Police have yet to confirm.

An unnamed Kansas City Chiefs player has committed suicide at the team facility and authorities are on the scene, the police confirmed to ESPN on Saturday morning.

Local reports say police are operating with the belief the player fatally shot his girlfriend at a house before driving to Arrowhead Stadium and killing himself at around 8 a.m local time. The Associated Press reported the player's age to be 25.

"We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation."

There were no other injuries at the team facility, police said.

The Chiefs (1-10) were preparing to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The NFL has told the Panthers to travel as planned to Kansas City on Saturday, the Charlotte Observer has reported, citing interim general manager Brandon Beane.

I can't get there, man.

It makes him a guy with rage and impulse control issues that killed his girlfriend.

How's that different from, say, Lawrence Phillips? Phillips would've killed his girl if he had a gun in his hand instead of a knife when they had their huge falling out. All he had was a knife, so he stabbed her.

Had Phillips hit her aorta when he stabbed her, would you agree that he's just a killer at that point?

It sucks, but this is the way this has to be viewed at this point.

There aren't. Also, not just the lack of security being the issue...if he didn't call and had ill intentions towards another player he could have gone right in and done his business because there would be no reason to question a player freely going into the facility on a Saturday morning.

That also wouldn't explain Pioli, Crennel and others meeting him in the parking lot.

He called one of them, told him/them what he had done and probably just wanted to say good bye.

We will probably never know, but I can probably say with

Many Condolences to all Chiefs fans here at the Planet, from many of us Bronco fans over at the Orangemane .. we may be 'friendly' rivals on the field, but share the real sense of sorrow and disbelief at such a senseless tragedy...a feeling we know too all too well with Darrent Williams and Kenny McKinley's too early departures from this life.

Really feel for the families and for Romeo and Pioli ... Romeo has always seemed like a good guy and is well liked in every locker room so far as I can tell and it must be a very difficult night for them both after what they witnessed and were powerless to stop..

Best wishes for a Chiefs recovery in the coming weeks and months,

Hulamau

Okay, shit for brains, 'murder' has a definition. And no, none of the things you're describing fall into it.

You're conflating 'murder' and 'homicide' because you've watched too much Law and Order.

Just stop. You're an idiot and you're only painting yourself as a bigger idiot as you push this forward.

I agree with the bold, and we're likely dancing in semantic circles. "Cold-blooded killer," to me, carries connotations of the action being calculated, and I highly doubt this was the case.

Like I said, though, if we later learn that they argued, and then he left to get the gun, I'll change my stance. At present, I view him only as a deranged, sick individual who caused a lot of grief on his way out.

I guess I can see him going to ArrowHead with all those guys to corroborate a story for when he would turn himself in to have a shot at having a lesser sentence or getting off totally...but I'd like to think that wasn't the case.

It doesn't matter why?

He shot her multiple times.

This is not self-defense.

My condolences to Chiefs nation. This is a horrible tragedy. My prayers go out to all the innocent involved. Its situations like these that put things into perspective and makes you realize there is more to life than just sports.

Drunk mans stumbles into your house on accident assuming it was his. You shoot him on an impulse.

I'm sure there's some 'read between the lines' bullshit situation that will fit your definition.

My point remains. Murder is not black and white.

That's called morbid curiosity. And while it's normal, it's also ****ing demented.

There's no CONSTRUCTIVE reason to know why he killed her because he's DEAD. He can't kill anybody else.

To want to know, at this point, is to satisfy your own selfish desire.

Or in Iconic's case, to feel sorry for the guy because after all, somebody else made him into a murderer.
