The Wife and I are heading to Reno

I'll be largely invisible after tonight until next weekend. Anyone been there? Anything we absolutely have to see? I've booked a champagne cruise off of Lake Tahoe for Tuesday night, and am confident the wife is going to love it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Good man. Enjoy. The area west of there in California is very pretty, too.

Be sure to grab something to eat at Donner Pass.

If you have time, I'd highly recommend taking a road trip to Yosemite. You'll kill at least a whole day doing it though.

Tahoe, however, is magnificent. Too bad they're 45 minutes apart. They have a riverboat-style boat that takes you across to Emerald Bay - that was awesome. I wish I'd had more time to spend exploring that area.

If I ever go back, I'll stay at one of the Tahoe hotels and only use Reno for the airport.
I use to work in the gaming industry and was forced to spend months at a time in Reno... the above post is right on target. anything worth doing in that area is outside of Reno and closer to Tahoe. Tahoe has all kinds of great things. There is a Cabo Wabo Cantina in the basement of Harveys, sometimes they have good bands in there, and sometimes the man himself is playing a show.

Wow that does sound like the Bunny Ranch or a number other of establishments offering negotiated affection.

Frazod knows Reno!

My daughter lives there... I stay at the Grand Sierra cuz they let my dogs stay. Its not downtown, but thats a plus in my book. Reno is a great place if you want to get fat. They serve gigantic piles of food 24/7. You can double your size in a week or so.

I'll definitely be paying attention on that front. I have no interest in relocating any of the 125lbs I've lost so far.

Thanks for the tips guys, they are much appreciated. When I have questions I ask the braintrust of CP first.

That's about a 5 hour drive from Reno. I'm not sure I wanna go that far each way, but we'll definitely keep it in mind should we get bored with the surrounding areas. I'd love to do Yosemite personally, I think I could get the wife on board as well. It's just a long ass drive.

125. That's embarrassing. I mean its admirable as all get out for you - embarrassing to me. Packed on 15 lbs after getting down to 185. And just put on a no-tuck-in shirt after eating a plate of spaghetti. 125. I just got re-motivated....

Yeah, it's a lot of driving but well worth it IMO, the place is awesome. You'd probably be better off driving down and going through the park and then staying somewhere on the Cali side, and then driving back up through the wine country via Placerville, that's all beautiful as well.

I don't recall the driving times exactly as we were there back in '03, I know Frazod made the trip more recently so he could probably give you better information. All I can remember for sure is, from where we were staying in N Lake Tahoe, we left at 8:00 in the morning and didn't get back until nearly midnight.

On the way up there I counted at 5 - 6 Cat Houses that were pretty much closed down. Is the economy that bad that a woman can't even sell the hatchet wound? Or possibly that the economy is so bad no one is traveling to buy it??

Just found it strange all of those off the hwy in the middle of no where and vacated.

Flopnuts I can't tell you much of anything since we really didn't go anywhere. We didn't really have time or money.

Seems that SPARKS had more to offer than Reno by the casion maps I looked at.

I think this is the correct answer. I've never been there, just talked to people that have, so take what I say with a grain of salt. From the pictures, I'd recommend just chillaxin at Tahoe.

I had that bullshit happen to me in Colorado.

Well it's embarrassing to me as well considering I have another 100lbs to lose. I was freakishly large.
