Life Anyone deal with Car Sickness - Page 5

I have never had to deal with this before. I went and picked up my grandkids and I am keeping them for a little over a month. On the way home from the airport, 4 hour trip, they both end up getting sick. I asked my son about this and evidently his wife had this issue when she traveled by car. Anyway all bitching about the experience and trip back to the house aside.
How do you keep them from getting car sick short of Dramamine? They are allergic to that stuff evidently. I have made a lot of plans for the next month and there is a good amount of travel involved.
One of them is almost 2 the other will turn 4 before he goes home with his mom and dad.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to maintain a relatively constant speed while cruising, accelerate smoothly, brake gently, and by all means don't floor it when cresting a small hill. I used to be a "lead foot" when I was driving and it would make my kids nauseous. I've since smoothed it out a bit and it helps. Also found pre-hydrating (with water) and fresh air during the drive helps.

Actually, there WAS vomit everywhere. 90% of the crew was incapacitated by the time the storm broke.

I was one of the 10%. Although it was starting to get to me a bit.

I wanted to report back that the ginger snap cookies with air conditioning, to where you could hang meat, in my truck with a blind in the passenger window to block the flashing of the sunlight through the tress worked very well as long as I kept it under 50 mph. We only had one sickness spell and that was on the first trip.
We had a great summer together. Thanks for all the help and info that you guys provided.

Agreed. Sitting in the front seat of the car will eliminate motion sickness symptoms.

Maybe it's low on oil or just a bad tank of gas. Try running a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in your next fill-up...

No it didn't eliminate anything. It definitely makes it better but it doesn't eliminate anything. My daughter in-law still gets car sick in the front seat unless she is driving. She is a true "city slicker". She hasn't ridden in a car for more than a few miles since she was little. She did not have a good trip since I live several hours from the nearest large airport.

Brideowanian gives our kids some kind of Ginger drops and dabs something behind their ear.
It seems to work about as well as dramamine for her and the barf-ettes.

The only time it's really an issue for us is winding up and down roads, specifically when I visit a certain area south of springfield in your state.

Always had ziplock baggies handy when my girl was young. She grew out of it but was guaranteed to upchuck about every trip at some time or another.
