What I can tell you is that statistics are a hell of a lot more objective way of evaluating a player than using the "eye test" and relying on narratives that may or may not be actually true. At least they're unbiased and impartial.

Also, power is a primary aspect of hitting. It's why Jose Bautista is more way more valuable than somebody like Jose Altuve even though they're hitting for a similar average. It's also clearly not something that should be held against ARod, it's a strength he holds on most players and it's why his overall offensive performance in the playoffs using a good metric for hitting was similar to Jeter's (.838 to .833).

I know you didn't watch the game (or games?), but it helped that the Spurs are a really good team. They completely outclassed the Heat. It was like LeBron was playing 1 on 5 tonight.

Personally, idc. Did you see Lebron after the series? The guy was laughing and congratulating the Spurs. He knows he will be eating steak and drinking champagne, collecting fat checks and doing coke off hookers' asses in no time. He wins in life.

Besides, We have a soccer game tomorrow pally.

The fact that you rather rely on statistics tells me all I need to know. I'll take the eye test over statistics all day. You can manipulate statistics to fit the narrative and that's obviously what you've been trying to do until somebody brings up the most important statistic (championships). The bottom line is your boy Lebron while a great talent that puts up great statistics disappears in games and lacks the killer instinct and aggressiveness to be mentioned with the likes of Jordan. If his team was so bad why didn't he stay aggressive throughout the past few games? Bc he doesn't want to. It's not in him. Which is why he's in this situation in Miami in the first place.

You can either use statistics as an unbiased, objective tool to evaluate players or you can bullshit on obliviously with no evidence of anything you're talking about. Seems you've made your choice a long time ago.

So, so dumb. And considering your first post in this 2 month old thread was yesterday (to troll LeBron) and all the rest of the posts that have followed (trolling LeBron) not the least bit surprising.

He looked pretty disappointed on the bench at the end and during the presser. But he'll be fine. You don't become the best at your craft in the world without being able to deal with some failure along the way.

So you feel Lebron is aggressive and has that "well if my teammates aren't going to help me tonight I'll just do it on my own" mentality? Bc if you do then you need to stop looking at box scores. How does he not have a huge 40+ pt game when his team let him down all series and he's been playing catch up? I notice the second an argument gets brought up that you can't use statistics to disprove you just want to call it dumb/stupid and end it there. I'll give you one thing at times he does make you think something has changed and he finally has "it", but he always reverts back to being passive at some point. I saw him pass the ball so many times being guarded by Parker/Mills/Manu. How do you defend that?

As for why I haven't posted in this thread, I honestly just come to CP for draft/football discussion but I decided to give this thread a look and wanted to chime in.

LeBron had a very efficient 31/10/5 tonight in basically 3.5 quarters of action. It was as good a performance as you could ask for considering how little help he got (the rest of the team was shooting around 30% before the bench scrubs came in and defense stopped being played).

And I know you don't know this (likely because you both because you don't understand how LeBron's offensive game works and what the Spurs were trying to do to defend him), but taking a bunch of contested, inefficient shots would have only played into exactly what Popovich wanted and reduced their chances of winning. Forcing bad shots against the double and even triple teams that the Spurs were throwing at him is not the answer to any question. It would amount to a lower efficiency 40+ point point game for LeBron, sure, but they wouldn't have had any chance to stay close with the Spurs doing that. Their best chance to keep up offensively was for his teammates to exploit all of the attention that he was drawing (which Bosh and especially Wade were able to do at times last year in the Finals, a crucial difference). However, this year they (and everyone else on the team) proved totally incapable of doing that, even when LeBron was creating open shots for them. In the end, this series was about the greatness of the Spurs and the massive decline of the Miami Heat's secondary players, not LeBron James.

If his teammates struggle it's up to Lebron to create shots for them. Either that or take it upon himself to win the game.

Another comment that makes me wonder how much time you've spent watching this team (if any at all). The Heat's entire offense is designed for LeBron to create shots for others. And he did that regularly in this series. His teammates just had a terrible habit of missing all of them.

I only watched game 3. I stopped watching basketball when I stopped playing and what I saw was Lebron being very passive and hesitant. I definitely didn't see an offense where Lebron scores and creates for others.
