Your final 53

Call your final 53. Be prepared to defend your roster.

OFF (25)
QB (2) Mahomes, Henne
RB (3) CEH, McKinnon, Williams
FB (0)
WR (6) Hill, Hardman, Pringle, DRob, Fountain, Kemp
TE (4) Kelce, Bell, Fortson, Gray
OT (4) Brown, Niang, Remmers, PTW
OG (4) Thuney, Smith, LDT, Allegretti
C (2) Humphrey, Blythe
DEF (25)
DE (6) Clark, Jones, Okafor, Danna, Kaindoh, T. Ward, Harris
DT (4) Nnadi, Reed, Wharton, Saunders
LB (5) Gay, Hitchens, Bolton, Niemann, Cobb
CB (6) Sneed, C. Ward, Fenton, Hughes, Keyes, Baker
S (4) Mathieu, Sorenson, Thornhill, Watts
ST (3)
Winchester, Townsend, Butker
My logic is:
Williams over Gore since Williams is a good blocker. No FB because both Gray and Fortson can play H-back. LDT is too expensive to cut. Allegretti and Blythe can both play C/G. I never want to see Wylie in a Chiefs uniform again and the Prince looks good. DRob and Kemp because there's no one else. Blythe can be put on IR after the final roster for a pick up.
Jones can play inside and out, so it's really 5 and 5 on the D-line. I question Clark's future. Cobb over DOD any day of the week.
I'd like to figure out some way to keep Buechele, but I can't seem to find a viable cut. I'm not sure I want to part ways with either Bell or Blythe just yet.

Yes, although it's worth mentioning that after a player passes through waivers they become a free agent, and can choose to sign to another team's practice squad if they want. It's only after they sign to our practice squad that we have any control again.

And one strategy to keep that from happening is to up their salary.

Yes, but it is counted against the cap, so you can't go crazy.

So that RGR guy thinks Anderson is our 4th safety.

I've seen nothing to support such a move. This isn't even about whether or not Armani Watts still sucks. Anderson just doesn't have much going for him as a player that you couldn't jettison him and add him to the practice squad later.

He said he figures the Chiefs will have Watts instead of Anderson. Anderson though is one of the guys that scored high on his analytics scores.

That RGR guy has no idea what he's talking about..

He's spent 3 years acting like DRob ****ed his wife and UDFA scrub WRs should beat him out, guys like Cody Thompson.

He also loved Joey Ivie...he's one of those fans that gets attached to white guys at the bottom of the roster.

Yet he has worked for NFL teams and is still a consultant for teams.
Can you say any of that?

Unless someone is a complete idiot, their roster projection is going to get 90% right guaranteed.

Hard to say if I really agree with him too much or if the majority of the roster is pretty obvious.

Blythe has a bit more flexibility but I think LDT is the better player, plus he's been in the system and has guaranteed money.

I have the Chiefs rolling with 5 RBs but it's more of an early season protection than the ideal.

I think it's a foregone conclusion that Forston has made this team. Grey has enough updside he probably doesn't get cut. That leaves Bell as the big decision, and I just feel like he's a better blocker than anyone else. I think Reid rolls with 4 TEs and develops sets that use them more.

Fountain, in my opinion, is a lock to make this roster. I think, if anyone is more on the bubble, it's Kemp. To me, it comes down to Kemp vs Powell and whether or not they feel comfortable letting Powell hit waivers. Ideal world is Kemp makes the roster for STs and Powell spends the year on the PS learning. I could see the Chiefs waiving Kemp though.

Alot of the online guys have the Chiefs choosing between Ward and Harris at DE and keeping Okafor. I don't know that I'd do that. I'd rather keep the upside of both and let Okafor walk, and honestly I think they've played that way in pre-season.

At LB I really think it comes down to O'Daniel vs Cobb vs Cole. We all know the only thing O'Daniel offers is STs value in all 4 phases. Cobb, to me, is the best choice though in terms of upside and physical ability. He can learn to be a better special teams player. Meanwhile, I think Cole is the guy to stash on the PS and see if he can learn and help supplant Niemann in 2022.

I have CB/S as being the positional area the Chiefs really have to play the numbers game. I feel best about 9 I have listed. I like Keyes and Lammons as guys that would be a #6. Bootle hasn't been terrible either. I don't think all of them will get claimed, if any, so you take your chances and should be able to stash at least a couple. Key showed some promise but he's not a roster-ready guy for anyone so I doubt he gets poached.
I'm pretty much in agreement with you and am changing my vote to Harris over Okafor. Good analysis, BTW.

Let's get real. It really doesn't matter who the #4-6 WRs are, they're not going to get that many targets. They're ST guys that can catch the ball on occasion. As long as the Pringles and Kemps are on the roster, we'll be stuck with the DRobs of the world or overpay for an underachieving #2-3, ala Watkins. We need new blood in that crowd.

Since LDT & Blythe are injured could we put them on IR and then pickup two more players for our 53? I know they will count toward the initial 53 but maybe we cut a guy like burton or prince tega and immediately bring him back after he clears waivers? Is that possible or am I misunderstanding the rule?

They have to be on the 53 you name Tues. Once that happens, you can put them on IR Designated for Return and use their roster spots. That's why I included them on my 53. But you have to be careful who you cut/waive. It's unlikely you can get a PTW back, but you most likely could get a Kemp or Thompson back. And nobody is going to pick up Dieter.

I think they might read Chiefsplanet. The other day I made fun of Chris for saying 'honestly' all the time, and now he's apologizing for it on the show. But you can tell it's so ingrained that it's really hard for him, like telling a teenage girl not to say 'like'. Or people who say 'um' all the time.

Chris if you're reading this it's fine we still love you. Might as well just own it and make it your catchphrase.
