Ahmad Brooks staying in school...
from GBN report...
January 10 (8:00 AM): Star Cavs' soph LB to stay in school... The NFL will have to wait another year to get star Virginia sophomore MLB Ahmad Brooks in a pro uniform. Brooks announced late last night that he would be back at school for at least another year. Brooks is the second Virginia underclass LB to return to school after junior OLB Daryl Blackstock indicated earlier this month that he too would be back for one more year. |

Looks more and more like we either trade up to get Johnson or take a CB or DE...

Dammit, I liked Brooks. htismaqe is right trading up is looking more and more important with each kid that stays in school.

Unless Rolle was gonna be there at 15, I really wanted Brooks. Now I have to settle for Erasmus James or Marcus Spears who were my next-tier choices.

This a terrible draft to get a LB but Thomas Davis is listed as a FS but will probably be a WLB in the NFL. Depending on what we do in FA Davis could become my choice for #1 pick. He could be the 2nd coming of Donnie Edwards in Guns defense.

Maybe he knew that CP would be interested and didn't want to be a bust

Brooks wouldn't have made it past Houston anyways. Looks like an Auburn CB or a Georia S with the first pick. LB Channing Crowder in the 2nd round would be a steal.

That is disappointing news. First Kiwi decides to stay (who I was hoping the Chiefs would draft) and now Brooks is staying as well. It looks like we will have to trade up to get Derrick Johnson and maybe even Erasmus James. Otherwise, we are stuck with picking a mid-tier defensive lineman (Pollack, Spears, Roth) or taking a chance on a young cornerback. I am crossing my fingers that Carl can work some draft-day magic and trade up to land DJ.

That was kind of a half sarcastic remark. Those who like Edwards and his abilities as a LB think it's a good thing but those in the anti Edwards camp would think it stupid. I was playing both sides a little I guess. But IMO Davis could paly the WLB role in guns D and do well. Especially in coverage. PhilFree

How come y'all don't mention Florida Gator Channing Crowder? He's a beast! He can be had in the 2nd round even cause of past injuries...
but apparantly this guy is a potential superstar... |
