Lynch fined $7,500 by NFL

Lynch drew a flag on the hit, a hard blow to Hall's upper chest that came after it was clear the ball couldn't be caught. He said officials told him he was penalized not for a helmet-to-helmet hit, but for taking a shot at a defenseless receiver.

The 12th-year safety, who joined the Broncos after spending the first 11 years with Tampa Bay, said he will appeal the fine.

Me too. I thought it was a brutal hit but seemed borderline as far as being 'illegal'.

Of course he did... I still don't understand why all the Bronco fans thought otherwise. He drilled a defenseless WR after the ball was out of his hands. The NFL is real over-protective about not getting people killed.

Lynch will take one of those every single game if it keeps people from coming across the middle though. That's what the Bronco fans should've been playing up, not the legality of the hit. If they want to have a badass defense like they're talking about, they're going to have to play dirty sometimes.

That seems a bit harsh for a clean hit that was a tad late. I don’t think he should of even been fined

No - I can't believe he was fined. That hit was absolutely squeaky clean. The ball was still closeby and he had a chance to catch it with his 20 foot long arms.

Then I had to see it 20,000 times in Taco's sig. Now I'm thinking "very borderline, at best".

No argument with a fine. His appeal might get it knocked down to $5K or something, but he'll still have to cough something up.
