Seriously though, wouldn't it be awesome to do this? They used to have a Big 8 Preseason tournament during the holidays.
They could include all the teams from the Big 8 and it would be a huge draw over the holiday. Just count them all as non-conference games. |

The way I understand it, KU and MU need either Oklahoma (highly unlikely) or Memphis (more likely) to start losing and see their potential seeds drop, while KU and MU keep winning and see their seeds rise. Right now Oklahoma and Memphis are the highest projected seeds that are geographically closest to KC.

That would be really cool. Especially if the teams wore throwback uniforms.

Here are all the host sites:
Dayton OH, Greensboro NC, KC MO, Philadelphia PA, Portland OR, Boise ID, Miami FL, and Minneapolis MN. Is KC really a home court for Memphis? I dont see how that's much different for them to have to travel elsewhere. And I'm not sure KU or MU have to be the 1, or even 2 seed to be there. It certainly would help, but could either of them get there as a 3 seed, with a solid finish and strong tourney showing? Is getting there as a #4 out of the realm of possibility?

are we there yet? Why do people insist Memphis or Louisville heads to Kansas City? How is that a home advantage for them over any other place, other than being just a little closer to home?
I think the committee will lean to planting KU here at home. Bill Self and KU should be rewarded for how well they have played, when this was suppossed to be a down year. Plus, the first year of NCAA tourney ball at the Sprint Center, just wouldn't be right not to have KU there, when they have pretty much played their way there. I think this also helps build KU's identity with the Sprint Center, as they had with Kemper. thoughts?

If Missouri beats OU, and Kansas beat OU in the B12 tournament, it would be hard not to put Kansas and Missouri ahead... and Kansas could make it to KC as a 1 or 2, and Missouri could make it as a 2 or 3? |

They don't really go by that as much anymore. The NCAA tournament is getting more like the football bowl system and they will put teams where they think they can sell tickets even if they are a lower seed. Kind of like KU having to go to play a lower seeded UCLA team in California a few years back. |

As far as seeding in KC, my thought is that if OU is a 1 seed, the best KC could do is get either KU or MU, but not both.... If OU comes, that's a 1/16 and 8/9, so all that's left is either KU coming along with a 2 or Missouri coming along with a 2 or 3 (or whatever). I think OU has to collapse for Kansas and Missouri to both get seeded in Kansas City. As far as attendance, I'm not sure what's best for the NCAA... I think Kansas would draw well if they stayed in the Midwest (KC, Dayton, Minneapolis), but I think the NCAA would have to be more concerned about Mizzou, just because it's been a few years since they've been in the tournament.... so with respect to attendance, OU and Mizzou might be better off at the Sprint Center together. |

If KU beats OU in the Big 12 tourney, with Blake Griffin at full strength, they will have a pretty good case for it.
