A little help from the car guys?

I'm stone ****ing stupid when it comes to cars, and figure there are enough car guys out there that might be able to help me out.

I drive a 2009 Volkswagen CC with manual 6 speed transmission. 2.0L DOHC Turbocharged engine. Car has 40,000 miles and has been maintained to the letter.

It doesn't happen every time, but I'm noticing a slight engine hesitation around 2900-3200 RPM, but only when I'm in 4th gear. It feels very similar to the slight "turbolag" you get at 3800 RPM with this engine.

No warning, check engine lights etc. are on.

Any thoughts?

Could just be that's how the engine breathes and you only notice it in 4th gear because that's where the mechanical advantage is low and your throttle position might now be opened as far as higher gears.

So while it could be a blocked filter, it might also be 'normal'. The question is, is it new or has it always been there.
This is a new issue. Never noticed it until about two weeks ago.

First thing I would do is change the spark plugs. Do some research online about the plugs that can run in this car. My car ran stock Platinums which are expensive as shit, but many tuners have found a certain cheap copper plug actually works the best for the car. What a difference those made.

Many turbo cars have ignition coil issues which can cause the power cut at higher RPM's as well. Keep this in mind after you try the easier possible solutions.

VW is making really affordable automobiles atm. I just picked up a 2011 Jetta SE for the wife at 0.9% financing.
