F'N Sprint

I've been with Sprint 12 years and I've just about reached my breaking point.

I called Saturday night about their new Terms and Conditions. New conditions have 2 new clauses that I'm not comfortable with. Here is the gist of what I'm not happy about in the T&C land.

1) Sprint can determine how long your phone call can be and drop the call whenever they deem appropriate.

2) Sprint can act as a collection agency and call your employer if you owe them money. This is basically illegal and only regular collection agencies can do this, not Sprint reps.

So I call Saturday about my displeasure and they tell me too bad, it's not a material change. Any contract adjustment is a material change I tell them. It's not a monetary change because the price isn't going up, but cutting my calls when you want, and calling my employer if my bill to collect money absolutely is material. I said I have 30 days from July 1, which is when this posted to express my desire to leave ETF free. They refuse to let me out. I have had 5 lines on my account and my bill each month for the last 10 years has been around 250.

I called them back yesterday about all of this again, and tell them on top of the T&C issue, my cell service is just awful. It dropped 2 calls with my employer yesterday, I don't get even 3G in most places in my area (my wife has At&t and gets LTE, my mom has Verizon and gets 4G) and Sprint cant tell me when 4G or LTE will be available. I told the rep I was tired of paying high speed prices when they are providing dial up service.

She says they'd let me out if I return all of the iPhones on the account. I told her to eat shit. They've gotten the subsidies from the phones over the last year. The iPhones were over 1,200 last year and my ETF is 500.

Has anyone had success getting out of their Sprint contract? I've just had it with them.

I waited until my contract with Verizon expired then went to Straight Talk (Verizon network). No contract and $45 per month for unlimited everything. I couldn't be happier.

Good luck TBG

Nope, doesnt work. I tried that when I left them and went to Verizon. Sprint sucked so bad! I couldnt stand it anymore, so switched to Verizon and never looked back, never paid the ETF either! Still have collections calling me about that one and threatening to call my employer and take it out of my paycheck, good thing Im self employed

I'm not gonna defend your impression of Sprint because they are far from the best provider, but...

1) Why would you care about this? Just call back, I can't see this being employed often if at all.
2) Uhh pay your bill? I doubt they will call your boss if you're two days late on payment.

3) Do you work for AT&T?

Hey, the first clause could always work in your favor! I mean think about it, your mother-in-law calls, keeps you on the phone for hours and then suddenly click. Sprint said goodbye. Anyway, I agree, Sprint is one of the worst services available.

I have had Sprint for about 8 years now...at times their service/connections have been horrible.

1) Length of call has never been my real concern. I spend most of my day on the phone so when I leave work the last thing I want to do is be on a phone. But I am probably a little different from most in that sense.

2) I chuckled when I saw that slipped into the T&C. I had to call Sprint on something so I thought I would venture into that one myself. First, I told them right off that they were not to call my Employer at any time concerning my bill...EVER....and that I wanted that note in my records. If, for some reason, I ever got in a dispute that declaration is to prevent them from calling my employer about a debt. (See: Fair Debt Collections Practices Act)

I've never been thrilled with any of the cell companies....each one has it's detractors, even those that people say they love.

I noticed many people saying they are going to Straight Talks....I've heard people who have switched to them and been disappointed too.

Why do I care about my phone call getting cut off? I use my cell phone for everything - calling my other service providers that sometimes I'm on hold for a while. A cell carrier should not get to drop your call just because they deem that you've been on too long, or that their network is overloaded at the time and can't handle the local call volume.

Why would I work for AT&T and have Sprint as my cell provider?

Why does Sprint get to skirt around consumer laws that state the only way a collection agency can contact you is if they regularly collect debts?

It's also absurd that not one CSR is clear about when they are rolling out 4G or LTE in my area. One guy said it was in the process of being installed, the next said in 6 months they are starting it and one moron said they already had it in my area. 3 CSRs. I asked the last one if they had it in my area is that why I don't even get 3G in most spots anymore?

They can't skirt Consumer laws....but they can contact you, not your employer about their bill under normal company collection procedures (1st Party Collections)

If they outsource their 1st Party collections the Provider still has to follow normal collection procedures.

If it is 3rd Party Collections they are trying to mimic internally, then that is another story. I have heard of companies trying this but they always run into compliance issues.

I have one main issue with Sprint.

My step-daughter has epilepsy. She won a smart watch that she can wear...that will track and monitor whenever she has a seizure. It will even go so far as to send her Mom and I a text message or a phone call when it happens. To do that....it has to be hooked up to a phone (obviously). Unfortunately the watch only works with 2 smart phones. So I added a line to our plan and had to buy a Nexus ($200). This phone has been used one time and that was a test call to make sure that everything works. I called Sprint after a couple of months to see if we could possibly get a discount on the line because it's not being used and it would only be used in the event of a seizure. All those ****ers offered me was a one time $5 credit off of my bill. Seriously? I'm paying $19.99 a month for the line, $8 a month for the insurance AND I had to pay for the phone at the beginning.....and it's not being used. **** you Sprint.

I'm not defending Sprint by any means whatsoever. But I very highly doubt they implemented that rule just so they could dick with you and randomly cut off your normal calls. More than likely it was implemented for situations where somebody is on the phone for 48 hours straight or something nonsensical like that.

All phone companies are horrible. You could find shit to complain about with every single one of them.
