Any of you done the genetic mapping?
I just sent in my packet for 23andme.com with the saliva/cheek cell sample for genetic mapping. I have several patients that have done it and turned me on to it.

It actually showed a propensity for periodontal disease and certain types of cancer and brain issues/diseases.

I think it is similar to what Angelina Jolie used perhaps. Anyhow, have any of you guys done this? Did it confirm where you thought you were from? History of familial disease? Markers for any diseases?

I can't wait to get mine back.

I did it for my dog (my wife wanted it for Christmas). They couldn't determine what breed she was.

What a waste of $70.

I guess I'd like to know if I'm prone to Alzheimers so that I can take out long term care insurance. Things like that. Plus, I guess it can pinpoint an exact location your genome developed on earth. I'm German, I know that, but I'm hoping to find some Viking badass in there as well.

I have a family history of heart disease, stroke and cancer. I come from a large family and most lived long lives, but with a large sample size who knows what's going to get me? Eventually something catches up to you. Does it give you a timeline?

I know I'm 100% Viking badass since all my grandparents came over from the Motherland and all my ancestors had names like Elias Magnusson, Magnus Magnusson (true story), Erik Eliasson, etc., etc...

I don't think it gives you a lifespan or anything like that. I think it basically tells where your genome comes from, what specific markers are there for certain things (good and bad), and perhaps what things you could pass down to kids. interesting for sure.

Same here, but was Johan Johansson. Lots of Ottos and Lars and Ulfs in the family too. I recently went to Sweden and it was bit weird since my relatives settled in the Black Hills of South Dakota and the area west of Kista, Sweden is nearly identical.
