Agreed. AppleTV is too limited. IT would be much better if you could install apps on it. You have to jailbreak it to do that, though.

In it's defense though, it's a pretty nice option once jailbroken.

Yeah, but even then, it's still not as complete a solution. It only becomes complete when it's jailbroken and paired with a portable iOS device, which sucks because it shouldn't need to be that way.

I wonder if the new software update will help any. I kinda doubt it. AppleTV has always been underwhelming on its own. I still use mine all the time, but then, I stream a lot from my PC through my iPad.
