I know people think Dan Gilbert is a dick and that's fine. His scathing letter is the first and only time many people have ever heard from/of him. He is a very good owner, he was just a little foolish to cater to LeBron as much as he did. Cavaliers gave up several assets to acquire the over the hill talent they did to keep LBJ happy. Post LBJ Gilbert has constantly made taken on salary to acquire picks and you don't do that if you are cheap and don't want to build a winner. Bottom line, nobody wants to go to Cleveland (city), but that does not make the organization shitty.

The Cavs that LeBron took the finals were the best defensive team in the NBA by a mile. It's not like his teams were talentless. That being said, the Cavs got worse over time because they were trying to spoil LeBron. Much as I hate to admit it, LeBron leaving and the ridiculous display when he left were the kind of wake up call he needed.

It will never be a privilege for me. LeBron is a great player and I give him credit when credit is due. But I still believe that what he did during the Decision is still among the worst things any player has ever done in any sport. I will still criticize him but know that as a player, he's very good and yes has matured into one of the best of all time.

Okay this is my final post regarding Lebron and the Heat. I had to seriously think about why so many people of my generation don't like post Cleveland Lebron. We grew up watching jordan, Magic, Bird, and Kobe winning titles with the same teams they started with. With Cleveland Lebron , we saw a spark of what Jordan, magic and bird did. Lebron brought excitement back to the NBA for those of us feeling like the glory days of the NBA were long gone. We saw in Lebron a young mike fighting to get past the bad boy piston teams or a young magic running the floor making passes a big man just shouldn't be able to make and we loved it. The moment Lebron made the decision to go to the Heat and team up with Wade and Bosh we felt cheated. We felt like we were being cheated from seeing another great player "earn a title the right way" and somehow he turned into this hated villain. I understand why he left; Cleveland didn't give him any support; no pippen for his Jordan no Karem for his magic. Ultimately , Lebron made a good decision in joining up with two super stars. Lebron won his second title in super star fashion willing his team to victory in two straight elimination games. Lebron is the best player on the planet right now. ..still some how, some way, some of us who experienced the glory days of the NBA feel cheated. We cant explain it, quantify it or rationalize it..its just how we feel.

I still look back at the Kobe Bryant trade out of Charlotte, talk about a single move that ended up costing the city a franchise.

This, and he did it in a way where he was basically colluding with Wade and Bosh, which is one of those things that happens under the table. He did it to the most cursed fan base by light years and he should know that, having grown up in Akron. The Cavs bent over backwards for him and yet he didn't have even the courtesy to let anyone know he was leaving, even though he had planned it for a year. He didn't even have the courtesy to tell his teammates.

So yeah... this is separate from him as a player. But he put himself way above the fans, his teammates, and a front office that was very kind to him. And he did it in a way where he was colluding with other superstars to form a super-team instead of turning a team around organically. I acknowledge he's a great player on the court, but his legacy will always include an orchestrated move that might have been one of the worst sports faux pas of our generation.

Bron isn't the best - yet - and I really don't care if he ever achieves that status. All I care about is the Miami Heat winning championships. That being said, LeBron has 4 MVPs and 2 NBA titles (MVP for both) at the age of 28. That's more than MJ had at the age of 28. He's also joined MJ & Bill Russell as the ONLY players in NBA history to win back-to-back regular season MVPs and NBA titles.

Great take. I loved LeBron in Cleveland. I don't like Miami LeBron at all and it's because of how they built that team. However, pretending like he isn't one of the greatest ever or that he isn't clutch simply because we feel "cheated" (or something similar) is asinine. It's possible to dislike him/the Heat without having to make up ridiculous arguments regarding his actual play.

Kobe DID move. He forced a trade out of Charlotte, so that he'd have a better chance to win immediately (and long term). Why would you include him in such a list?

He came to Miami because he wanted a better opportunity to win a championship. A decision no different than one that plenty of other professional athletes have made for their careers (and one that I'm sure LeBron will make again if he feels he needs to). It might be time to get over it.

This just reads like whining. At least be happy that you actually got to watch one of the greatest players of all time play for 7 years. LeBron owed nobody in Cleveland anything. And if you want to talk about cursed fanbases, I'm a fan of the Toronto ****ing Raptors. What the hell do I have to hang my hat on for the last 18 years other than Vince Carter dunks?

It's just funny that no one scorns the Celtics when they went and got KG & Allen or the Lakers when they got Shaq or Pau.

The teams before (Celtics, Lakers, Bulls from years past) was a different era and those teams were stacked.
