Apparently it's about 3 times the size of Fallout 3 and 1.5 times smaller than Skyrim, BUT the devs said that the playable space is about the same as Skyrim because Skyrim had a lot of mountains.

It took FOREVER to walk across the map in F3. I want to say it was a good 5 minutes just to go from the Vault to the 1st grocery store.

I can't imagine it's really that small in 4...

It appears the user is sprinting, which is a new feature from Fallout 3/New Vegas to Fallout 4.

And barren, too.

I haven't ever played a Bethesda game where the map felt to small. And I'm sure it will be littered with tons of underground areas and other interesting stuff. In this video, (which is gone now) things looked a little barren, but other videos have show a densely packed cityscape.

It has been previously, but I think the east coast was further from the worst of it because it was further from China. So...Boston isn't as barren.

Watch out for spoilers, people are editing the ending of the game into gifs and screenshots. Stay away from youtube comment sections too because people are spoiling the ending there as well.
