There are those that are saying that we will be fine with TRich at HB if we will just give him the ball enough times.

I have to disagree.

TRich could be the best FB in the league. At HB he is average because he really can't bounce it outside when the middle is clogged (look at each of his rushes ~ most are for 1 yd or no gain, with a couple of long ones to bring up the average). He also doesn't have good ability to turn the corner and run outside even when that is the designed play.

The big problem with the Chiefs running game is not that we don't have a passing game (we do ~ and it will be better with more Morris and less dropped passes, the big problem with our running game is that we are one dimensional ~ we can only run up the middle.

If the Chiefs had a true inside/outside running threat, it would open up the running game immensly and make the O Line much more effective in their blocking. It would also cause hesitation in the linebackers making it easier for the guards to block them.

I like TRich and I want to see him go to the Pro Bowl ~ as a FB (with a lot of carries and receptions).

There is only one HB on the Chiefs roster, however, that has EVER demonstrated in a game situation that he can effectively run inside and outside. That RB is Frank Moreau. Rookie mistakes or no, he should be our starting HB and get 80% of the RB carries (scrap RBBC).

Moreau should also play in the one-back Big Tiger set.

Absolutely agree Luz, lets scrap the Rbbc and live or die with Moreau and TR. Then hope useless Raye can provide some plays for them. What is the difference who only gets 1 or 2 yards, seems Pittsburgh made a living out of Bettis at FB, Cloud and Anders backing up does not scare me, after all, there are going to be other hot days for awhile. Lets do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems obvious to me.

I would grant that there might be factors that I am unaware of. If so, what are they?

Can anyone give me any reasons why we SHOULDN'T do this?

ChiefPriority,

That is what I am hoping for.

My fear is that they will play Anders as the starting FB and split time at HB between Cloud and TRich.

Maybe we're practicing 'HBBE' (Half Back By Elimination)? This week we eliminated Bennit from the mix, who will we eliminate next week and how long will it take us to give Moreau his chance?

Luz - HBbE? LOL.

I agree, this is not a SB season by any stretch of the imagination. Let the youth out there as starters and let them learn. Wesley, Parker, Morris, Moreau all should have more active roles this season.

I agree. Our toss plays yesterday looked awful (although T-Rich hardly deserves all the blame). We're still only an inside running team right now. I also believe T-Rich is a far better FB than HB. I'd still like to see him get a lot of carries from the FB position, and maybe Big Tiger. I think having Moreau and Richardson on the field is the best combination we can have.

Naw, we couldn't have TRich and Moreau on the field at once if that is the best combination. The Chiefs have notoriously been oblivious to the obvious potential and typically opt to "play it safe" which unfortunately means not playing rookies. Now we have already committed to some rookies this year, even started one, but lets be honest, do we really think we will ever see a rookie start at such an integral position as halfback AND get 75% of the carries like real running backs on other teams get? I'm not holding my breath.

Luz,

Agreed 100%. TR and Moreau should be our starting back field. Cloud should only get on the field in third and long. When Dante Hall gets healthy don't see a reason for Cloud to be on the field at ALL. Cloud should now be number 2.

I'm just afraid that the chiefs are slow to make the Moreau move because if not a success this year we won't have anyone on the roster to tout next year as our diamond in the rough. Could FORCE Carls' decision next year in the first round if Moreau doesn't set the world on fire!!

This is the only post I've seen that really brings a smile to my face...I like it!

I think Moreau is the only back we have with peripheral vision. Everyone else seems to cross their fingers and run stright with their head down. Can he make something out of nothing or break enough tackles?

...I'd love to see him get that chance.

Per Gun's press conference today, TR will be the FB and Cloud is the frontrunner at HB this Sunday. Although, he did say Moreau would get more carries next week at Tenn and the possibility of Moreau replacing Cloud as starter definitely exists. I believe Gun said they would be evaluating that possibility this evening at a coaches mtg and this week during practice.

My friends (1 Bronco's fan, 1 Colt's fan) said WTF...Gun should be feeding Moreau the ball over and over...

We're not the only ones that see it, our enemies do too!
