Well, I don't know you, of course, except from what I see here, and of course we each have our own opinions (that's a good thing, actually). What you've been saying for the past couple of pages makes me think that you haven't really lived with someone who has serious, chronic, clinical depression, and maybe you don't have a full grasp of it.

Which is fine, unless a) you exhibit this level of vehemence towards someone who is suffering badly from it, or b) you have to live with it yourself sometime in the future. I hope neither happens, but my advice to you is to ease up on the outright dismissal of its severity a little, and maybe soak in a little of what everyone else in this thread is saying.

A lot of black people ARE racist, being gay IS a choice, and most (not all) depression IS due to selfishness. I think you show your ignorance by thinking otherwise. Determining ignorance is a matter of perspective and obviously yours is wrong.

The people oppressed by an inherently racist system by definition cannot be racist; homosexuality is by all scientific and anecdotal accounts NOT a choice (and it really shouldn't matter either way because there is nothing morally wrong with it); and depression is an incredibly well-documented and very real mental illness.

You can have an opinion, but when that opinion flies in the face of all evidence and logic, you are ignorant. And a depressing number of CP posters are ignorant. Or I guess that's only depressing to CP's non-ignorant members.

DT didn't ignore the emotional well-being and future of his 3 children, nor did he turn his back on his brother and mother.
