Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Cool picture.

I see a scope.

What is it and would you get again or something else?

After spending hours upon hours at the gun show this week and last, I had to go pop off a few hundred rounds.

I brought my Glock 19, Springfield Mil-Spec 1911, and '53 Russian SKS.

The SKS is so much fun to shoot! I should take it out more often.

Ok, I've been looking into cheaper alternatives to the AR for defense/hunting and the 22 keeps coming up, primarily due to accuracy and ease of finding ammo... yet I've checked around and this is one of the hardest ammo's to get ahold of.

Why is that? you'd think that something most "bigshots" consider plinker pea shooter stuff would be easy to find... why is 22lr so damn hard to find?

My guess is with all the government contracts that were being filled first, .22 ammo is probably the caliber that makes the manufacturers the least amount of money and has therefor been produced in the lowest volume. JMO

Yes the .22 is hard to find, however I scored 200 rounds at bass pro in olathe Friday...have to go and ask for it. They don't offer...they gave me 2 boxes...went and found the wifey and she went and got 2 more boxes as it was a two box limit and they were almost out.
Since the .22 has been so hard to find I started stocking up on .17's and ordered a new scope for it Saturday.....17 is more expensive to shoot but hey at least I can go shoot if I want. Still looking for that great deal on .223 also...picked up my first AR Saturday also. Haven't shot .22 in months as I know I can't replace what I have....

That's as good as any explanation I've heard anywhere, thanks.

We folks need to cut back on our plinker ammo consumption so the IRS and NOAA can have millions of rounds for some strange, unknown purpose.

If you go back and total up the purchases over the last couple of years it comes to several billions, I think.

As for the "strange unknown purpose" the only reason to buy ammo is use it
the only question is what for? The vast majority of the ammo is in calibers only suitable for pistols and smg's.
