Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Bought 3 of the BX-25 at Fleet Farm.

Plus a clear plastic 25 round clip.

Still looking at scopes that will fit in the carry bag.

What scope did you put on yours?

If you get lucky, you can find .22 as low as $.04 or $.05 per round.

It's hit and miss but as I've posted this at least 6 times in this monster thread, check here on a regular basis.

You're not necessarily looking in the wrong places. It just isn't available for those prices very often. The lowest I've gotten some in the past year or so has been $0.07 per round. Just keep checking that gunbot site.

In addition to gunbot.net, bookmark slickguns.com.

You have to constantly check each site. Once a good deal on 22 shows up, it doesn't last very long.

I recently won a revolver that came with the 22lr and 22mag cylinders. I'd like to pick up some 22mag for it, but having never owned one I have no clue what "normal" ammo prices are. I refuse to over pay these clowns for something I'll most likely never really shoot so what should 22mag ammo normally run?

I got an "now in stock" email from Midway USA regarding some 22lr while I was running over lunch. I saw the email when it was 44 minutes old and they were already out of stock

I'll give you 20 bucks for the gun. Then you won't have to worry about it

It's one of those Heritage guns. Probably not worth much but it's kind of neat and looks like it would make a really nice pistol for someone who did a lot of trapping. I think I'm going to keep it loaded for yard varmints.

thinking about buying yet another rifle because, well... ok, I just want one. What do you all think about the 22-250 rifle as opposed to one that shoots the 17hmr?

That 22-250 is one hellova bullet and can zoom along at 4000fps and it destroys whatever it hits. It is a center fire cartridge so it's re-loadable. On the flip side, ammo is harder to get and more expensive. Oh, and because the bullet is so fast, supposedly it can affect barrel life too.

the 17hmr is the new 22 IMHO. The bullet is sound with good stopping power and overall performance/accuracy, ammo is cheap and readily available. On the flip side, it's a rimfire cartridge and the bullet looses a lot of it's stopping power after about 125-150 yards or so, and it's very susceptible to wind.

which one would you buy if given a choice?

Build an account on gunbot.net, set a price, check the alarm box and leave it open in the background.

I have an encore set up with a 22-250 barrel. It's a fun gun to play with and I've killed several coyotes and foxes with it, but I don't shoot it much. It's fun to plug some prairie dogs off a bench with too.

I've never really been a 17 fan, but I don't do a lot of small caliber plunking either. I've filmed a few bobcat hunts for a guy who's bat shit crazy about all the 17 rounds. He really likes them and will go into great detail about why they're the best on earth.

I prefer the larger hotter round.
