If you average out Alex Smith's stats over the course of 2012.

3318 yards
24 TDs
10 INTs
69% completion

Over 2011 and 2012 (his so called best years)

3231 yards
65% completion
20.5 TDs
7.5 INTs

Over the those two years.....he averaged only 26 attempts per game.

Definition of ****ing average.

I can't flame you for this article. I'm with you. I'm an it is what it is guy, and what it is that we have is Alex Smith. I'm gonna hope that all the things you wrote stay true for his time in KC and the FO can put a cast of players around him that can help to duplicate his last two years. Meanwhile, I hope we get EJ Manuel or Tyler Bray in the third.

If Alex Smith went to Buffalo would anybody have run to Vegas to put money down on the Bills making the playoffs or Super Bowl? How about Arizona?

I bet not, because he isn't anything special at all. You would have said, "Smith isn't good enough to get the Bills over the hump, I can't believe that sad sack organization gave up an early 2nd and an additional 2/3. When will they learn?"

This, by a large margin, is the best way to explain to a True Fan, or anyone else, why trading for Alex Smith is such a crappy idea.

Kudos and Rep to you sir!!

Buffalo did t have six Pro Bowlers. Buffalo doesn't have Jamaal Charles or Tamba Hali or Justin Houston or Eric Berry.

Your analogy sucks.

I agree with you in that I'm trying to look at the positives in this. I was not enamored by the trade. I never thought much of Smith. However, if Smith can come in here and be the next version of Joe Montana (Chiefs version) or Trent Green I think we will all forget about our disappointment in this trade. I'm hoping the last 2 years' version of Alex Smith was not a fluke and will continue with good coaching by Reid. If not, well then everyone can say they were right. Ugghh.

I'm also going to be pissed if Geno Smith goes on to be a great NFL QB. And it will be especially painful if he does that for a team like the Raiders.

Seriously? You'll be happy if he's Trent Green? How many playoff wins did that get us again?

I'm tired of people acting like Trent was some great QB. He was serviceable. He wasn't a franchise QB and he was never going to be 'great'.

Alex Smith's best two seasons - 188 yards/game

Trent's best two seasons - 270 yards/game (4300 yards per season)

Even Trent's "bad" first two seasons in KC were better than Smith's best (233 yards/game)

Smith wishes he was Trent Green
