Nice try...
You are the person claiming he's in coverage more than 50% of the time. Have a link that proves it?

As far as the Pitt game goes, take it with a grain of salt:

EDGE JUSTIN HOUSTON, 41.1 OVERALL GRADE
Houston is one of the league’s best edge-rushers and all-around outside linebackers, so when he comes out of a game with zero total pressures, the Chiefs defense is going to have some problems. Houston also gave up two catches for 23 yards in coverage, and was otherwise a non-factor in the game.

They "credit" him with 23 yards passing allowed and zero pressures. Doesn't fit your narrative.

New England's D was atrocious the first 4 weeks, they seemed to have gotten better. They have never had star power in their D. Yet they don't bottom out. That is real coaching for you.
I think NE is a special case because their defense can take a lot more chances when they know their offense is going to put up close to thirty points on everyone. NE basically forces the other team to become one dimensional to play catch up.

It's a team game, when the offense struggles it puts more pressure on the defense. Going three and out twice didn't help the defense at all to start the game.

Getting rid of the defensive coordinator isn't going to change what other teams are doing to the offense nor is it going to make our #2 corner backs better nor help the pass rush.

Situational changes are necessary for the defense. I would rather see them give up a long play than die by a thousand paper cuts. At least it gives the offense more time.

Players have to play and I think the Chiefs are more injured than we know.

People are being oversimplistic. We keep talking about Houston pass rushing. But the fact is that Oakland, Philly, and Washington are totally different defensive games if we defend jump balls Averagely well.

The defense has also been "unlucky" this year. Critical phantom PI calls in two games. A few passes that should have been INT's going right through defenders hands and/or off helmets.

That's not to excuse the D. The pass rush is poor, they can't tackle, can't execute blitzes, Sutton runs the nickle and dime too often and certain players in the secondary shouldn't be on an NFL roster.

Suttons scheme is fine. It works. I've seen it work plenty of times. Players simply have to execute... They are not doing that right now. with Hali and Ford coming back there is hope. Hopefully DJ gets benched (never thought I'd say that) which should help as well.

One thing I will say is I would like to see Sutton get away from rushing three. Seems like teams have caught on to it and it simply is not working anymore.

What is there to catch on to when he rushes three? He's basically giving the QB all day in the pocket and expecting his defensive backfield to stick with the WRs for more than 3-4 seconds. Rushing three immediately double teams two of your pass rushers. Unless your third pass rusher can continually beat the offensive lineman he's going against....it's ****ing worthless.

It worked well against the Pats and Chargers so I can't say that it is stupid period. It is stupid now that offenses have found ways to counter it but it worked great those first two-weeks.

Sutton's scheme worked so well because of Eric Berry. 3 man rush means it's usually 8v5 on passing downs. Marcus Peters and Eric Berry locked down the best WR and TE on the field. They are all-pro caliber players that you could leave 1v1.
So with both of them, it's basically 6v3, which gives the defense a significant advantage and the ability for LB's to step back and block the crossing routes taking away the middle of the field. Now that the middle of the field is gone, it makes accuracy even more difficult for the QB.

Now that Eric Berry is gone, its Eric Murray, who absolutely can't play 1v1 with many TE's. So now you have to give him help, making it 5v3, which makes it harder for us.

The best plan now is to jam the WR's on 3rd and long and use a creative blitz to force the QB to make a quick decision.
