Pics when Arrowhead was new

My sister gave me a box of pictures my mom had. When Arrowhead was new, my dad was lucky and got the seats that I sit in now. I've posted pictures from my seats before. My mom took some pictures from the very same spot in 1973 for a KC-Oakland Game. I scanned a couple of them. Some interesting things: 1) Picture of George Blanda. In 1973, the visitors stood on the press box (south) side, and the Chiefs stood on the north side. It's the opposite now. 2) Look at Dawson's helmet. This was at the tail end of his career. 3) Dawson holding a kick for Stenerud. This was probably an extra point or short field goal. Note the Astroturf and "NBC Sports" banner. Back then, NBC the original network for the AFL, though by 1973 the merger was complete and so it was the AFC.

What I noticed most was in the FG one was how the stands wasn't a sea of red like it is now....

It looks like the kicker is kicking with the tip of his shoe too?

Pretty sure thats Janski can almost see the 3 on his sleeve. Probably hooked it left!

Notice George Blanda no Knee or Thigh pads and little if any shoulder pads. He may have been strictly kicking by then. That SOB was a real thorn in the Chiefs side.

I remember going to games when the Chiefs were on the opposite side. It was so empty-we could walk around the stadium and my dad could still see us.

I wonder why. It seems like it would be an obvious thing to wear red to the games.

Anyone else collect the Sunoco Football stamps, and fill the book?

Man, I really wish that I had kept that.
