Would you trade a top five '09 pick for Brady Quinn?

Given the shakey nature of the up coming QB class, would you consider unloading a top 5 pick for him?

Tim Tebow isn't going to sniff the top 10.

And that's why I said no.

Getting a Maulauga, Crabtree, Oher, etc would mean more for this franchise's future than a QB that doesn't deserve being a Top 5 pick.

But if they DID have a chance to get Quinn, passed, and THEN drafted a QB in the Top 5, I'd be pissed - Quinn has a much better future ahead of him than anyone that we'd take in 2009, IMO.

There isn't a QB that will be worth a top 5 pick next year. 2nd and below, consider it. No way should the Chiefs give up the 1st round pick for Quinn. Hell I wouldn't consider it unless they through in at least another pick to sweeten the deal.

What if Mark Sanchez has an awesome year and comes out?

Or Bradford?

One great year in college doesn't equal a good pro prospect.

It just means he had one good year beating up on college competition.

Its way too early to tell if there is a QB worth a top 5 pick. The season has just begun. We haven't had the Senior Bowl or the combine...

I would almost guarantee those guys will have a shot at being as top 5 picks if they come out.

Sanchez has a huge arm and scouts love that and he has good size and is in a pro style offense.

I'm thinking take one of those guys would be better and wait till 2010 to draft a QB. That class is setting up to be a pretty good. Unless we can get Leinart or Quinn somehow that doesnt involve trading a first.

I'm with you.

BPA. This team has too many holes to use a Top 5 pick on need alone.

Please.

One, no one can make that call two weeks into the college football season.

Two, Matt Stafford has all the physical characteristics you look for in a franchise QB, so at this point he's certainly a guy that looks to be worthy of a top 5 pick, unless you're one of those crazies that thinks we should never draft a 1st round QB unless he's guaranteed to be the next Elway.

Call me when the season ends. He won't be worth a top 5 though. I'm with warpath on this. BPA don't waste it on need. We could very well be the 1 slot too. Would you spend a 1 on him? Hell no! Trade down and get an extra pick? Maybe. Then I could see it.

I'd trade our 1st next year for him in a heartbeat.

I agree with you except at QB. I think we'll have a top 5 pick again this year, but I could see us improving in '09 to where we will be drafting in the middle of the draft. Our window for getting a high draft pick QB could be closing. Without getting a franchise QB, we are heading for another Marty-type team. I just can't bear the thought of that. Somehow we have to find a way to get a franchise QB. We'll have to take some risks to make that happen.

I'm not advocating getting Quinn no matter what. He might not be the best guy to take a risk on. I really don't know much about him, hence the reason for this thread.
