Alex Smith would have had the Chargers at 3-13 last year.

Pretty much a draw, but I think Rivers has a smidge more going for him. He's declining astoundingly fast, though. It may be a matter of who's cheaper.

I have never been a P. Rivers fan. I have watched him play way more than Alex Smith. So my opinion could be off by choosing what I don't know, but right now I would go with Alex Smith.
It seems to me Rivers struggles started the V Jackson holdout, and the constant injuries of Gates. Then the O-line disintegrated. I think they have some pretty decent receivers, but the O-line is going to cause them problems this year. Last edited by 2bikemike; 07-29-2013 at 03:01 PM.. |

Philip Rivers is a guy who can throw for close to 5,000 yards if conditions are right. It's not like he doesn't have more playoff wins than this douche Alex Smith.
Alex Smith can get you 3200 if conditions are right. Why is this a question?

I wouldn't trade for him because the people of San Diego have been questioning his effectiveness for two years. He's had 47 turnovers from 2011-2012 and his game appears to be on the decline. He's never won anything significant and he's 31 years old.
If he were available in free agency, I'd be interested. But as a trade? No. If he bombs out this season, it'll be his last in San Diego, anyway. |
