I'd have to say equipment failure caused him to not get an actual conclusion to his throw that can be recorded on a score card. He may get another ball off the rack and throw again.
Those ceiling tiles really need to stay in place so the ball can bounce off of them and come back to the lanes. Shoddy conditions like this really irritate me.
