The Bears Tried to get Trent Green
Trent Green turns down Bears again

For the second time this offseason, Trent Green said no to his old coach Mike Martz.

The Bears inquired about Green after backup quarterback Caleb Hanie hurt his shoulder in the preseason opener, according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

"His heart says yes, and his emotions say yes. But it's time to stay right where he is," said Green's agent Jim Steiner. (Good for Green.)

Hanie received good news on Monday when he found out he won't need surgery on his shoulder, but his injury highlights perhaps the least impressive quarterback depth in the league.

Next after Hanie is rookie Dan LeFevour, who looked awful in his preseason debut, and threw five interceptions in practice on Monday. Expect a veteran to arrive shortly.
