Chiefs announce Bray as the backup QB

http://arrowheadaddict.com/2016/05/2...p-quarterback/

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made a surprising declaration on Tuesday afternoon.

The Chiefs are still a little more than two months away from the start of training camp in St. Joe’s, but we already have some very interesting news on the depth chart front.

Reid has proclaimed that Tyler Bray, not Aaron Murray or Kevin Hogan, is entering training camp as the primary backup quarterback to Alex Smith. Murray was a fifth-round pick back in 2014 while Hogan was a fifth-round selection in April.

Despite being an undrafted free agent in 2013, Bray has stuck on the roster but never appeared or been active for a game in the regular season. He was placed on injured reserve last year after sustaining a torn ACL in a pickup basketball game.

Bray has all the physical tools you could want. He’s 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds and at 24 years old, might finally be seizing the moment after sitting behind Chase Daniel and Murray.

It will be fascinating to see if Bray can hold off Murray and Hogan in camp, not having thrown a competitive pass in two years.

Smartest to root for both. Both hitting means you can trade one for value later.

I hear you. I'm just rooting for somebody to claim the job with authority. I have no interest in tearing any of them down. And with as little as we have seen from any of these guys, I don't know how anyone can be so opinionated about what will definitely happen.

I like the fact that neither of them cost 5-7 million to be a backup, and one of them will still be a backup no different than the Eagles are overpaying on their roster.

Again, shit footwork and has never once in his entire career shown the ability to absorb a large playbook. He played playground football at TN and while most blame Dooley, he didn't help.

You absolutely, 100% cannot win football games simply because you throw the ball hard. Throwing it where you want to is exponentially more important than throwing it far.

Bray throws it far and that's it. He can't throw into windows with any regularity and so you can't even build an offense that asks him to do so.

Again - please tell me what separates Bray from Ryan Mallett? Kyle Boller? J.P. Losman?

What has Tyler Bray ever done well? His mechanics are shit. His ability to read defenses is shit. He's never demonstrated a significant amount of football aptitude.

The guy is going to get cut. Reid's just giving him his last, best shot at proving he shouldn't be. It's smart by Reid and it's absolutely stupid for the people in this thread to think it means anything more than that.
Ah, but I never said Bray was the "high end" of the prototype, now did I? You're not getting that total package in round 8.( yes, that was facetious)

Not Bray.

According to this write-up, he was the only one who made a nice pass today.

I would be surprised if Bray makes the starting roster. This just smells of buffing and shining the guy up make him all pretty and try to unload him in a trade. Count me skeptical.

Doing their due diligence. I mean you can guess at other motives, but they have 3 guys to sort out for QB depth. Someone has to get the first turn at it, and they chose seniority to establish that.

I don't think it means Bray is the odds on favorite. I don't think they are trying to gloss him up for a trade. I just think he drew the first straw at a turn to win the backup job.

I cheer for every player on the Chiefs' to be great.

Don't understand why a fan of the Chiefs wouldn't.

Teicher says Bray has a good chance to go into the regular season with Bray as the #2 QB.

So Bray likes himself as the #2, typical Teicher.
