I'm not trying to pretend anything. Do you think if MU needed a coach today they would be able to hire Meyer or Tressel? Or do you think MU would be as incapable of making a homerun hire (by your definition) as KU?

And I wouldn't bring Leach into this. The guy has too many variables about him. There is a reason he went to Wazzu when there are a myriad of better openings available.

MU and KU both hired a coach with one MAC Championship.

Today MU and KU both have coaches with one MAC Championship.

If Pinkel retires after next season, I absolutely think Tressel would be in the mix assuming that he doesn't coach next year.

MU being much better than KU in football does not mean that we are a powerhouse. There are sever standard deviations between the worst BCS team and powerhouses, but you already knew that.

Yeah, not interested in Tressel.

I do think we'd get a nibble from him, though. Going to the SEC really does change the dynamic to some degree, especially if the administration makes the commitment they've assured everyone one they will. A competitive Tigers team out of the SEC East would get some very high quality interviews.

Would they accept? Who knows? But we'd get some quality interested applicants.

We goddamn sure wouldn't lose out on our top target to Washington State.
