I'd say the 41 TDs and 5000 yards in 2011 helped a bit.

All I know is a couple years ago when the Lions played the Saints in the playoffs they gave the Saints all they could handle.

Stafford's better than his team. He plays for the freaking LIONS.

He does seem to be injured a lot though.

Just because Detroit doesn't have another option doesn't mean Stafford has EARNED a big contract.

Stafford was already under contract for this season with an option for 2014. There was absolutely no reason for the Lions to extend him, other the salary cap number of $20 million had if not for the extension.

Personally, I believe the jury is still out on him. He's hasn't shown that he's a Franchise QB anymore than Josh Freeman has shown he's a Franchise QB.

If Freeman were in Detroit with Megatron, he'd have similar numbers, yet Tampa hasn't extended Freeman. Detroit may come out smelling like a rose with this deal but when in history has that ever happened for the Lions?
