Lions interested in Page

Paper Lions
Detroit has finished last in the NFL in total defense each of the past three seasons, and hasn't ranked in the top 20 in the category since 2005, and so it is little wonder that general manager Martin Mayhew and head coach Jim Schwartz are rebuilding the unit. So far, there are six projected new starters for 2010, and the Lions aren't done yet. The Lions, who at least on paper appear to be improved on the defensive side, have indicated an interest in another dissatisfied veteran who would help the revamping. How about defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, with whom Schwartz is familiar from their tenure together in Tennessee? Uh, no. Detroit insiders have confirmed the team is interested in Kansas City strong safety Jarrad Page, who has yet to sign his one-year restricted tender with the Chiefs ($1.76 million) and has requested a trade. A four-year veteran, Page was limited to five games in 2009 by a shoulder problem that landed him on injured reserve. But the 225-pounder, if healthy, would make a nice complement to second-year free safety Louis Delmas, a rising star. The Lions used three strong safeties -- Marquand Manuel, Ko Simpson and Marvin White -- to partner with Delmas in '09.

Fully aware...but if they want him. Would you argue w/ a 3rd round pick?

I also don't see much depth worth a shit at NT do you?

The most we could get for Page would be a 5th round pick.

Well, this article is acting like he's going to play SS in Detroit.

And that's being generous. I'd rather just keep him. But if he won't sign his tender; **** him.

I'm not going to argue with a 3rd round pick if Detroit wants to be dumb enough to give it up for Page.

And just because we don't have depth at NT....doesn't mean that another team is going to give us a good one. Sammie Lee Hill is liked by the coaching staff in Detroit. They aren't just going to trade him away.

Hmm. I didn't take the time to actually read it lol. But, I still don't really believe he could make a good SS. But, just watch, he will go to Detriot and put on the Bernard Pollard show.

Yeah, all Wade Smith needed to do was beat out Mike Goff.

All Jamaal Charles needed to do was beat out LJ.

And so on, and so on...

In the current regime's eyes, it could be that Page has more value as an example to be made of rather than the measly draft pick that would net them a player of marginal worth.

Teach the other guys in the locker room what happens when they request a trade or show any kind of discontent over their contract situation.

I'd ask for a player/player swap of page for cliff avril. Avril is worth more though as a pass rusher. They did sign van den bosch this offseason but don't have much else for quality at DE.
I don't think DET wants to trade avril though.

as for page:
All depends on how bad they want to trade page or like has been said make an example of him.
