Excerpt from Kirwan article on 1st rounders

"For the moment, let's eliminate the obvious players that have little to no chance of ever dropping out of the first round. One or two might slip, but for the most part, this is the core of the first round:

QB -- Matt Leinart, Vince Young, Jay Cutler
RB -- Reggie Bush, DeAngelo Williams, LenDale White, Laurence Maroney
WR -- Santonio Holmes
TE -- Vernon Davis, Marcedes Lewis
OT -- D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Winston Justice, Eric Winston
OG -- Max Jean Gilles
C -- Nick Mangold
DE -- Mario Williams, Tamba Hali, Mathais Kiwanuka
DT -- Haloti Ngata, Broderick Bunkley, Rod Wright
LB -- AJ Hawk, Chad Greenway, Bobby Carpenter, Demeco Ryans
S -- Michael Huff
CB -- Jimmy Williams, Ty Hill, Alan Zemaitas "

I found his list interesting - especially his opinion that Rod Wright is a guy who has little chance of dropping out of the 1st round.

Micheal Huff should be in the CB slot, because he just ran a 4.36 in the 40

That seems pretty real to me. Although, there are some flaws. I don't think Roderick Wright is a 1st rounder. Neither do I think Jean-Gilles will be selected in the 1st round. Nick Mangold is a fringe 1st rounder. Possibly early early 2nd.

I do think Mangold will go in the late 1st, and Jean-Gilles is fringe. I don't see any way Wright is a 1st round pick, just don't see it.

These guys on offense should be gone before we pick.

Matt Leinart
Vince Young
Jay Cutler
Reggie Bush
DeAngelo Williams
LenDale White
D'Brickashaw Ferguson
Vernon Davis

Plus maybe another OT and WR.

That should leave us a top 10 defensive guy. Hopefully it's like last year where a great talent drops to us.

I think he could even go as far as an early 3rd. Be right there with Dvoracek.

It's not just the names (I agree with everyone on Rod Wright) but the numbers.

He has 4 RB's AND 4 LB's going in the 1st. I don't see it happening.

I hate to say it, but the BAA when KC picks could be a HB. How pissed is LJ going to be when Carl drafts Maroney?

If Priest retires, maybe that's exactly what LJ needs.
