Once Albert is gone...

Should Eric Fisher be the 2014 opening day starter at left tackle?

It would probably make a lot of sense financially to move Fisher to left tackle.

Top LTs get 9-11 million per year...top RTs get a little over half that. Being that Eric Fisher is ours till 2017 and Stephenson is only signed the next two years, we could probably sign Stephenson for less if he plays RT the next year or two.

If Fisher stays at RT, he isn't any kind of bargain...but at left tackle, he is.

If you're saying that the Chiefs failed to replace Albert because he played one season here, and then we replaced him, that seems like a pointless point to make

It is absolutely silly to say with as much confidence as you have that the Chiefs have already failed to replace Albert.

let Fisher and Stephenson compete

I bet Fisher wins the competition though.

Incidentally... our offense did just fine without Albert in the starting lineup, and that's with two guys at the Tackles who have tremendous room to grow.

I hardly see how the Chiefs will have failed to replace Albert if he leaves.

Even better with Fish out.

I'm fine wit Stephenson at LT and BreastMode at RT...

Scouts pretty much universally saw Fisher as a special talent at left tackle. I say let him have the spot if he comes back for OTAs showing he deserves it by adding muscle to his frame and showing improved technique.

Lets say we play Stephenson at left tackle and he locks it down. That's great...until next year when he wants a new deal at left tackle pay.

The average of the top 10 left tackles average per year salary is almost exactly 10 million. 9.992.

The average of the top ten right tackles salary...5.4 million per year average.

That's a huge savings if Fisher can lock up that left tackle spot.

Starting a player based on how much he could want 2 years down the row is a great way to **** up your team. Start the best player in the best position and work out the contract shit when it gets to it.

Based STRICTLY on that, sure...but that's a pretty major factor.
