Move to a more complete team?
B. Every team in the nfl has holes and the holes we have in KC aren't as big as any other teams holes that might be looking for a QB next year and will fit his strengths as well as KC |

If you don't pay Smith, which FA veteran should the Chiefs sign and pay next year? Don't even say draft and develop a QB because it isn't happening.

If you believe what you just typed then we paid what we should have. If you think he's worth $12 mil, what do you think a QB hungry team strapped with cash, say the Raiders, would have paid for him? He'd have gotten far, far above market value if he were cut by the 9ers. We paid a steep price but we avoided the initial bidding war. |

He plays with passion and heart, but I still think he lacks that true killer instinct that defines the top 10 QBs. Call it just my opinion. |

I quoted you saying any QB could get the ball to his playmakers. Any QB. Cassel is any QB, so I guess you thought matt Cassel would have been just as good as Alex getting the ball to his playmakers. That is what I meant by my post.
I think Alex is better than half the starting QBs at getting the ball to Chiefs playmakers. In fact, Alex is probably a top 5 QB in utilizing Jamaal Charles in the Chiefs passing game. Where he falls short is getting the ball to his wide receivers and commanding the deep passing game. |

Here's an example from week 3, vs Eagles. Crucial 3rd and long. Since you seem to lack the football knowledge to understand this sequence of images, let me tell you what's going on there. As the play develops, you can see McCluster come wide open without a single person on him on the underneath route. If, as you and a bunch of other imbeciles believe, Smith was truly a QB who tries to avoid taking a chance at all costs, that ball would have gone immediately to McCluster as soon as he cleared the traffic. Instead, Smith looks beyond McCluster to Avery who is 20+ yards down the field with two defenders closing in on him. He fits the ball perfectly between two defenders, purposefully throwing it slightly behind Avery so that he doesn't have to fly into a huge hit from the safety. That's a good veteran throw that was a hell of a lot riskier than the pass to McCluster would have been. Too far to the inside and it's and INT or Avery gets crushed, too far outside and the CB gets the pick. Also, if you claim to be a Niner fan, how could you make that dumb of a statement after watching Smith in the 2011 playoff game against the Saints on the final offensive play of the game? |
