Need {CONSUMER ELECTRONICS} help here...

No, you won't catch me asking you n00bs for "tech" advice.

I am looking for a digital video playback device and need help. Here's the scenario:

A friend of mine is selling a product through a partnership with some retail stores in the area. Today, his display consists of either a VCR or (in some cases) a DVD player and a flat screen monitor.

The VCR's especially are failing at an alarming rate, due to dust collection/eaten tapes etc.

He's wanting a solid-state device like an MP3 player that could play a 30-second video clip over and over again. (aka: something with a much larger mean-time-to-failure). Of course, it would need compatible video outputs (composite/component) for use with the monitor.
