Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

There you go. Just like some of us who saw Reid coming with the Alex Smith thing predicted. Smith will likely be a Raider, unless we can trade down.

Oakland is going to drive whatever trade market there might be for Smith.

Why is this always the angle? How about this, list the Super Bowl winning QB's of the last 20 years and tell me if they were A) high draft picks, or B) drafted and developed by the team that won the SB

Do you want your team to win a Super Bowl, or do you want to save face by not drafting a bust QB?

It's all over, men. It's been a slaughter out here today, and the killing blow has landed. Those of us that remain, let us pick up the bodies of our fallen allies and tend to our wives and family.

It's almost like Andy Reid and Dorsey just watched tape of Alex Smith vs New Orleans from 2 years ago and just went "yep, that's the guy."

Tamba Hali, D. Johnson, B. Flowers, B. Albert, E. Berry, D. Bowe.

I'd say they've made pro bowls and been the best players on our team...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I must now pray that the Jaguars love Geno Smith and take him....or that the Cardinals/Bills want to trade up to take him at #1.

This is what the offseason has become.

Now I'm getting told Alex Smith is going to be better here than he was in SF.

I personally don't see why you still can't draft Geno.

Let him sit behind Alex and learn the ropes, like Colin Kaepernick did, and if he doesn't show any signs of improving your team make the move after the guy has had some time to sit and learn.

Ask any coach on the 49ers, even ask Kaep how much he helped the developement. Even if Alex doesn't work out, he can at least be the stop gap needed while Geno learns the game. If I'm not mistaken you can cut Alex next year at no charge with his current contract.

I know losing a 2nd hurts that, but at the same time you would have your QB position set for years. Regardless of how Alex plays.

Part of the supposed appeal of the new regime (Dorsey), was an ability to analyze and identify talent. Previous Chief draft picks are irrelevant. Please stop trying to convince people this was a good deal. Just go back to your board and celebrate with like-minded fans.

Geno Smith is going to haunt Andy Reid for years to come.. and will be what gets them both fired.
