That said, the new GNR band is comprised of some ridiculously talented players but to me, they come off as bland because they're so good. Slash and Duff and Izzy and Steven were "feel" players. The difference between Matt and Adler's drumming is shocking and Matt's songs don't "feel" anywhere near as "good" as Steven's. This was no more apparent than their Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction, where Guns and Roses sounded like Guns and Roses (minus Axl).
yeah, Izzy said one of the biggest reasons he left was because he didn't like the way the band's music had changed.

His sobriety and Axl's erratic behavior were the other main contributing factors.

Poor Izzy; he's so scarred from LSD (lead singer dysfunction) that when VR was forming, it was him, Duff, Slash, and Matt, and Izzy was down...as long as they didn't get a ****ing lead singer.

Izzy just wanted to tour clubs with him and Duff singing...

maybe they could still get that together.

WAY more likely than the original Guns ever getting back together.

I knew a bunch of guys that auditioned for Velvet Revolver, from Mike Matejevic from Steelheart and the Mark Wahlberg movie, to Keith Nelson and Josh Todd (Keith actually has some writing credits on the first album) and many more.

Slash didn't like any of them because he wanted to move forward and sound modern. He didn't want to sound "80's" in any way. So they hired Weiland.

Just saw this and I literally laughed out loud.

Oh, irony...

I love GN'R and I love STP.

VR was two great tastes that didn't go well together.

Like Audioslave. Love Rage, love Soundgarden.

Not so much together.

Chemistry is a mother****er.

I thought both VR records were crap, especially the second record. Slash hated the production on the first album and said that Josh Abraham didn't know how to record guitars (So then why did you hire him?). The songs were weak and boring and they literally wrong some songs to sound like older GNR and Stone Temple Pilots. Why bother?

I actually heard the demos with Josh and Keith and believe it or not, they were really cool. I liked them better than the records with Weiland. Sure, they were 80's sounding but IMO, it worked.

Izzy's solo albums kick ass.

love River, JuJu Hounds, Miami, Ride On, Wave of Heat, and 117 Degrees. Real cool Stonesy vibe. You can definitely tell he was the 'Guns' in GN'R.

'new STP' sucks, btw. That's why I bumped this thread. It's AWFUL.

I loved the first Audioslave record and still do. Some of the later songs on the record are just outright dark and angry. I dig 'em.

I didn't care much for the second record overall and thought the third was better, but it didn't really work, either. The band would jam their stuff, while Chris was a in a corner writing something on acoustic guitar. You can hear on the second and third record that they're slowing becoming the Chris Cornell solo band, which is why they ultimately broke up.
