Chiefs DBowe Too Slow? Ineffective?

Two national media members (Greg Rosenthal & Bill Williamson) made reference today to Dwayne Bowe looking very slow and ineffective. These references were independent of each other. Anyone here buying that? Will Bowe bounce back and have a decent season? Were the Chiefs too quick to give him the big bucks? Just curious what the good folks here at CP think about Rosenthal's and Williamson's digs at Bowe.

if that's ineffective, then by all means.

Bowe has always been a bit slow for a WR. He can still be effective, as long as he can get open and catch the ball.

Too many people look at stats instead of actually watching the plays and it gets ****ing old.

He's never been a guy to get great separation. Tends to make circus catches better than dropping routine balls. I never thought he was a top 20 WR.

Bowe finds helmself in the unfortunate circumstance of having to rely on a safe QB getting him the ball.

Bowe is not a burner so he's not going to get much separation. He's a big WR that goes up and gets the ball over the guy defending him. With Alex as the QB, who doesn't leave shit to chance like that, equals Bowe not getting the ball very much.

Welcome to living on the outside instead of 3 yards over the middle, Bowe.

wins do matter without stats.

there are important stats that translate wins, like the stats of having a #1 defense over which skill position gets their 1,000 yards. Yea that matters.

Our current style of offense isn't one that will give a player like Bowe huge stats. Mostly because we have to design our offense around our QB's style of play. Doesn't mean he's not a top 10 WR though..

He usually lines up outside in the right and runs a lot of sideline routes. I think that makes him too far away for Smith to feel comfortable throwing to him. He's really only thrown 10 yd sideline routes to the left, and not many of them. Personally, I think we need to utilize Now on crossing routes frequently. As Smith tends to target the ten yards of the field immediately before him in the center of the field.
