I've been out of work since March. The positive is when I had my son over the summer, we hung out all day, everyday. Those times are priceless. The silver lining in this dark cloud...

Sorry for your luck, Frank. I hope something good happens for you quickly. You going to be paying union dues at your next gig?

The kicker is these ****ers want us to pay our dues while we are furloughed. I told them to **** off and that all my issues happened when I was a full paying member so they have to support me.

Do you plan on getting on the substituting lists? I imagine that could be a bit chaotic, however, with a young child.
Hope something comes up. I've heard of school districts in my state hiring right before school starts. It's rare, sure, but it wouldn't hurt to look. |

If a long term job comes up, then I'd absolutely apply. The only good thing is, if the district realizes they have to hire teachers, they have to call me first.

I have a teacher that works for me that was laid off, he couldn't be happier since he left the profession. He also has a young (2 year old) son and feels as if the change in direction did him good. Hang in there bro, and pray a lot as it DOES help!

More positives:
- No worthless teacher meetings to start your days off - Doing special education analysis and experiments with chiefsplanet posters - Not having to worry about living that dream of showing up to school in just your briefs - Not dealing with spoiled kids whose parents didn't hit them enough |

Good luck bad guy! If nothing comes up for awhile enjoy the time with your child. Who knows maybe it will be for the best!

They just did layoffs where I work. Kind of crazy. People that were laid off have the option of "bumping" people that are on their original probation (6 months).
That would suck taint.
